Yes, 'Key of G', we must become more aware of each other - in both
the visual and the audio senses. Deep concentration on learning a new
tune is one sure way of losing contact with the other players in a
group - and every one of us does it at some time or other. If we get
lost in ourselves whilst playing, then we will miss various signals

I agree that having a conductor with our sort of group would look
rather pretentious, and anyway conducting is extremely difficult to
get right. Having a conductor also assumes that everyone would be
watching him/her. Perhaps developing good eye contact between

We asked the music director of the Sussex Folk Orchestra, amongst many
things, about the value of having a conductor for a Folk Orchestra.
In short the answer was 'Been there, done that. It doesn't work'.

The SFO recommend that we have a good rhythm section and that all

Many of our members have brought up excellent ideas concerning various
aspects of the development of the YFO, and every one of them has been
given consideration. Many of those ideas have been implemented or are
being looked at for the future. Sometimes a particular idea may have
to be superceded by another but we do appreciate ALL of the input from
