Voigtlander Heliar 210mm f4.5 barrel lens Background: Voigtlander & Son Optical Company were the USA branch agency of the Voigtlander Braunschwig Company, Germany, subsequently formed from Voigtlander AG Wien, Austria. The Heliar design were represented by a family of lenses as an in-house anastigmat design, created with moderately fast apertures to compete with Zeiss Planars, Dallmeyer Stigmatics and Cooke Triplets. Most Voigtlander Heliar lenses are available in the original black lacquered brass barrel with a few available in an aluminum alloy compound. From the Lens Vade Mecum: Features: Filter: 55mm front threaded filter
offered a soft focussing ring. Both versions were available mounted in Compound shutters or as barrel lenses. A number of Heliar 210mm lenses do not fit in Compound No.3 shutters.
