The Weller Brewery and Barn Meadow, Old AmershamDominic,

I understand your concern as I am a member of a residents association
fighting similar developers.
I have no knowledge of the ?covenant but there are a couple of places you
might look.
Such covenants should be found on any land registry documents. You can
search on-line at http://www.landregistry.gov.uk/ . There are tools to help
track down the land registration number of you do not know it.
I understand that all the documents from the Weller brewery are in archive
at Benskin's Brewery who bought the Weller brewery in 1929. It may be that
the relevant documents are there. I would like to see them but have never
had the time.

I have copied this to others in case they can help.

Regards,
Malcolm Weller.

Malcolm, re the brewery at Amersham, have you thought of phoning Barbara?
She may well know something useful, and maybe Linda has not had time to read
this letter yet; anyway, she would have to write a note and send or take it
to Gerrard's Cross. Just an idea. Dianna

Dominic,

It is just possible that documents relating to the conveyance of the
land are among the records at Buckinghamshire Records & Local Studies
Service in their files ref D-CH/A/ 20-36, D-CH/A/497-498 and D-CH/B/
51.  They certainly include 'lands in Amersham' and 'fields in Quill
Hall Farm purchased by George Weller.'  I have no idea whether they
include the land now under threat. See www.a2a.pro.gov.uk.

Good luck in your fight.  Sadly, yours is not an uncommon situation.
In my own town the Council has sold land that for centuries has been
'common' and 'village green' to Tesco to build a supermarket, and they
have blocked all attempts to appeal against their decision and ignored
a petition with signatures of thousands of residents.

Richard
