The WEEE Regulations are now in force. How are things going for those of you that are obligated by them? Do you have any questions or experiences that you would ike to share with the group and perhaps get a discussion going?
Hi Joe and all, just to give you an idea of what we've done. We have made the decision to split the weee waste into two categories, IT and Non-IT. Where a take back is not in place we utilise two waste routes. Our IT stuff goes to a authorised carrier/recycler and anything that doesn't make back into the workplace via charity or sale goes for further reclamation down to precious metals etc.....we have done a recent 'Duty of care' on this waste stream and are very happy with the controls and outcomes. Our Non-IT waste is few and far between (fridges, dishwasher, microwave, kettles, toaster etc...) but when we replaced an old fridge we sent that through to our metals recycler who has a weee license and ensures we get all the correct paperwork and they handle it properly at their end too. There are charges invovled, but aren't there always with new commercial waste routes until all the service providers rach some common ground. Any one got a cost effective waste route? Regards Matt
