Subject: What Do Xbox 360 Red and Green Lights Mean?
What do Xbox 360 red and green lights on the front of your console
mean? Here's a clue- they don't mean that Christmas is approaching. In
fact, these warning lights are more the complete opposite of Christmas
for any Xbox 360 gamer, as they indicate serious problems with your
console. In this article you are going to learn what these lights
mean, as well as what you need to be able to fix them yourself so that
you can get back to gaming once again as quickly as possible.
If sections one, two three and four of the power ring are red (section
one being the top right-hand corner, and then working clockwise
around) then the AV cable cannot being detected by your Xbox 360.
Unplug the AV cable then re-insert it. If this does not work then
substitute another AV cable in, and this will fix the problem.
If sections one and three are flashing red, then your Xbox 360 is
overheating. Turn it off and leave it for an hour or so to cool down.
To prevent this you should keep your Xbox 360 in a well-ventilated
area. Don't put it on any soft surface that may block the ventilation
openings, and don't put it near any heat sources. If you live in a
warm climate, it may pay to purchase a small stand mounted fan and use
this to blow air onto your Xbox 360.
If sections one, three and four, or if only section four is flashing
red, then your console has experienced a general hardware error. This
problem is most commonly referred to as the "red ring of
death" (although a red light in section four actually codes for the
e74 system error)
A general hardware failure is a serious problem, but you can fix it
yourself. You will need basic tools such as screwdrivers, a flat
surface to work on, around and hour's spare time, and video repair
instructions to guide you through the process to fix your Xbox 360 red
and green lights problems.
The best way to get these video repair instructions is to purchase an
Xbox 360 repair guide, which will contain all of the instructional
material you need to be able to fix your console. Video repair
instructions like you will find in a repair guide will give you a step-
by-step walk through that text, and even pictures cannot match. They
make it so much easier to fix your Xbox 360, as you can pause, rewind
and fast-forward whilst somebody else does the same job as you right
before your eyes.
