Dear Friends,
Avalokiteshvara Empowerment and
teachings on Bodhichitta, 28 - 30 March, 2008
at Vajravarahi Buddhist Centre, Preston
Everyone welcome!
Buddha Avalokiteshvara is the peaceful embodiment of compassion who wishes to release all beings from suffering. By receiving his profound blessings we can awaken our compassionate Buddha nature and be of benefit to everyone we meet or think about. As well as granting the empowerment, Gen Pagpa will also give a commentary to the short meditation practice of Avalokiteshvara and there will be teachings on the precious mind of enlightenment or Bodhichitta (Bodhi means "enlightenment" and Chitta means "mind", literally "mind of enlightenment") which is the main cause of the supreme happiness of enlightenment. Gen Pagpa will explain why this mind is so important, what its benefits are and how to generate it using special meditation methods which will bring alive our love and compassion for all living beings.
Who is this for?
Everyone is welcome to attend this event and it is suitable for anyone.
What is an empowerment?
An empowerment is a special ritual practice where there are guided visualisations that enable us to make a connection with an enlightened being. We receive the blessings of that Buddha which make our mind calm and peaceful and we receive special permission to engage in the meditation practice of that Buddha so that we can increase our inner peace and happiness by relying upon them. It is like being introduced to a special friend.
