Subject: Replacement AAA batteries for Panasonic DECT handset (KX-TCD300E)
Looking for replacement batteries ("P03P Ni-MH AAA Part No.HHR-4EPT"
in manual), for 2 handsets.

Handiest supplier would be in-town Argos, who do - inter alia - a
4-pack of 'Duracell Supreme AAA 1000mAh' for £11.69, also 4-pack
'Energizer AAA 1000mAh' for £9.79., but not the 'Panasonic' ones.

Any reason why they should not be suitable?

No reason at all, they will be fine.

I was going to suggest 7dayshop.com but £4.68 is quite reasonable.

Er, yes there is. There is a surprisingly large tolerance in the
size of any type of replaceable cell. Take out Mallory and put in
B&Q AA and you'll soon see what I mean.

It is possible that the non-Panasonics may be a tight (or loose)
fit.

Lidlis do some very respectable Tronic AAA and AA packs of 4 NiMh
for 2 to 3quid a pack

Fortunately, the Duracells were a perfect fit for the Panasonic
handset, and charged up fine overnight.

And the nipple on Jessops' own brand AA and AAA is too small for many
slots where the battery is wedged using its shoulder.
