My son is going to be staying with me for a few weeks, maybe 3 months, we
don't know yet, but can he use 18185 seeing as my line has been converted to
BT Basic?  He wanted to use this line whilst he is with me for a few weeks.

Thanks

Yes, it will work on your line if your son adds your number to his account
with 18185. All the calls made using the 18185 prefix will go on his bill.

You missed /BT Basic/ I think

Same as LUS, you are not supposed to do it and a OLO prefix probably
won't work.

If 18185 has a 0800 callthrough alternative for cable then that might
work, but IIRC BT reserves the right to cut such numbers too.

It will almost certainly void the BT Basic contract:

I certainly used an 0800 carrier on a LUS line at a cottage we used to rent,
The 3&4 digit prefixes were all blocked though.
Incidentally what does OLO stand for?
that was 10 years ago, things might have changed.

Ah. Thanks.
When I was involved with setting up alternative carriers for businesses we called
anything pertaining to that activity LCR, Least Cost Routing, which probably wasn't
always an accurate description of the operation as implemented ;-)
