Nearly every phone will be Vodafone branded.
Contract phones will be unlocked; pay as you go will generally be
locked. Some of their exclusive handsets like the Blackberry Storm
were locked too - I guess this is still the case but I'm not 100% sure.

you will need to look at the individual phones , some are branded
some are not , as regards locking , call vodaphone

Thanks to you and all the others for helping. I have emailed Vodafone
firstly asking them what my DATA CALL number is so that I can at least call
the sender. If that fails I will ask Vodafone to disable the number.

It's in the options for editing the various phone profiles (normal,
silent, meeting etc.)
Go to the edit screen for the profile you want and select New Messages
from the drop-down list at the top.

They aren't. O2 will stay just where it is. giffgaff is an 'arm's-length'
MVNO - effectively a startup seeded with some O2 people. It's a bit of an
experiment in 'social media' - being arm's length O2 can shut it down, steal
their good ideas, or use them to hoover up revenue that wouldn't be
attracted to the main network.

When BT Cellnet's brand name acquired negative value (as a result of
diabolic customer service) they changed the name to O2.

I've used it on Orange and Vodafone. O2 have never heard of it when
I've tried to get it activated on my account - I guess it must just be

Looks very interesting indeed! Think I'll be giving this a go once my iPhone
contract ends in a month's time - SIM ordered and put you in as the
recommendation. Even if the free data is only for 6 months that should easily
tide me over till the next iPhone comes out and then I can decide what makes
