..... the 2 windmills on the South Downs, close to the South Downs Way up
from Pycombe.
I was hoping to add to the previous post too (Peak District snow), as last
night the weather people hinted of possible snow on the hills in the south
east, hence my trip to the area north of Brighton. However, there wasn't
the slightest dribble of snow, not even mixed in amongst the rain I walked
in for the last hour or so! Still, plenty of blue sky and a scattering of
clouds made for a pleasant early morning 15 mile hike. 90 minute drive to
the start of the walk, but worth the effort as it is a great section of the
South Downs. Anyway, my route took me south and east first, zig zagging
over footpaths and farm tracks, eventually joining the South Downs Way just
east of Blackcap Hill. Stopped on Blackcap Hill for lunch, then followed
the South Downs Way west over Ditchling Beacon back to the car. And,
although it did rain for the last couple of miles, it wasn't anything
extreme.
