Interview with Anton Krupicka
Besides being one of the best ultra runners, he is a very insightful person about runing in general. Catch the interview at [link] There are some short film clips from some of his wins. Note the grace of his form. Looks like he is out for a stroll until you look at he clock.... more »

New Scottish Ultra Marathon series
For any UK runners out there, there is now a new Scottish Ultra Marathon Series (SUMS) sponsored by Montane. There are 9 qualifying races, you need a minimum of 4 to enter the series. No fees for being part of the series although the is a 5 quid charge to attend the prize-giving party. Two of the races are brand new and one, the... more »

Footpod Accuracy
I know what sports the footpods are aimed at and the claimed accuracy but am curious if they could be used to measure distance covered within one's home doing normal chores. The old pedometers worked by impact and often didn't record accurately with walking but I know the technology has changed with footpods and it... more »

Garmin FootPod
I've got a Garmin 305 and am wondering how the footpod works with this model. I appreciate they are ideal for indoor work or forest areas but am curious as to how they work with the GPS, does the GPS take priority until it loses a signal with the footpod then measuring the distance or do you get two separate readings.... more »

There are now more Africans in England than in many African countries
There are now more blacks in England than in many African countries, many of which are far larger than the UK. How far is England going to sink before the people wake up and turn on the politicians responsible? The Arabs weather bunker busters, stealth bombers and tomahawk cruise missiles and still they fight for their land, yet it seems all it... more »

So why do I run?
Is it to be winner: for the trophies, the laurels glimmering from afar? Is it to celebrate myself and my own achievements? Is it so that I can kiss myself in the mirror? Is it about wrenching from the hand of the almighty, more of the gift that he has already given me? Is it to be fit, strong, healthy, tough, or beautiful? Is it so that I can complete... more »

merrell pantheon sport for snow
hi, anyone used the merrell pantheon sport for hard packed snow? Slipery or not? They mostly seem to be sold in the uk and canada and the sole is vibram -- which is usually very slippery, but this is a softer type which is good on wet surfaces (or so the clerk tells me). Thnx

Minimalist Shoes
Was watching some Shaolin Monk Kung Fu videos on YouTube and noticed the shoes they wore were very similar to the canvas style shoes worn back in the day. Might be worth a try, they are cheap enough. These ones are the actual shoes the Shaolin Monks prefer: [link] Same shoe in black with a better picture:... more »
