Running History: Gordon Pirie
Thought I'd share this with ya'll: [link] Gordon Pirie originally wrote it (it's a short read), and Dr. John Gilbody had it on gordonpirie.com. I came across it when I first started running and I found it to be inspirational as Pirie was clearly a runner who was very confident and one who beat Zatopek. The... more »

Barns Green Half Marathon Race Report
I took most of the year off running, concentrating on cycle racing, with barely a couple of runs a month (generally a 3mile all out race, and a hill session) but I was doing lots of hard cycling miles. 8 weeks ago, I switched jobs to one with a commute (basically the contract was on-site rather than off) and combined with the end of the... more »

Snowdon Marathon - great fun
Hi all, just mentioned the Vibram Five Fingers in another thread having seen them at Snowdon on a bloke running. I entered Snowdon as many had recommended it to me after a good run of ultras and marathons. I wasn't prepared as well as I could have been running only once a week and found it a tough challenge. I over cooked... more »

Great South Run 2009
getting set for tomorrow's race.....raining steadily here on the South Coast riviera but the local weather diviners ( rather unbelievably) forecast bright mild day for the race........having done it for the last two years I'm firmly with St Thomas on this one - seeing is believing ! Good luck to Hugh Dennis who is running for Alzheimer's - and to me,... more »

Marine Corps Marathon - Washington DC 2009
Anyone here running in this year's MCM ? I've done it twice - and had a blast. Be interested to hear how this year's race goes. ( I think there are around 170 UK entrants every year, by no means all or even mostly Service folk.........the Royal Navy Team ( which of course includes the Real, sorry , ROYAL Marines) invariably beat their... more »

iNtervalTunes - iPhone App
If you have never heard of iNtervalTunes and you listen to your iPod Touch or iPhone while running, then you should look up this software. It lets you create a workout and create a playlist for each interval. Moreover, the intervals are flexible in order, length, and has a flexibility found in no other interval/timer related exercise... more »

So who's experimenting with Vibram Five Fingers?
Been running in mine for about a month now and really enjoying them. I would prefer to run fully barefoot but that would exclude me from nearly all the trails that I enjoy running on so the VFFs are a reasonable compromise. Ultimately I'd like to imitate the Tamahumara and run ultras in them but I'm... more »
