Subject: The Mick Ayers thing again
At CCBN's AGM this coming Sunday (19/10/08) the EC will be doing their best
to kill off any discussion of the Mick Ayers loan non-payment scandal.
Doubtless they'll be saying things like 'we should look to the future and
not keep raking over the past.'
In looking to the future, one thing members will be voting on is membership
fees. members may ask 'Why should be vote for increased subs., only to have
our money thrown away by an EC who waste money and let Chairmen off their
loans?'. An understandable viewpoint, especially as CCBN's history of
actually sticking to a budget is very chequered, and their constant U turns
on the matter of Mick Ayers.
Members may also be asking how it was that at their meeting on 16th June the
EC passed the following resolution:
" The Executive Council of CCBN confirms that it has not authorised at any
time the write off of any loan to its former Chairman, Michael Ayers, nor
has it delegated the authority to write off personal loans to any other
person or body." and authorised me to initiate action for recovery under the
Small Claims Procedure of the County Court; and then on the 16 August, they
reversed the decision, there being no change in the surrounding
circumstances, other than that Richard Daniels chaired the later meeting
(Richard Daniels was Treasurer when Ayers wrote off his own loan without
telling anyone in CCBN). Richard Daniels had previously stood back and let
Reg Barlow handle this matter within CCBN, due to his own involvement in the
events in question, but suddenly (as soon as I had resigned from the EC) he
grabbed back the handling of the matter, and in fact persuaded the EC not to
handle it at all. Even his own proposal to set up an enquiry has been
quietly shelved.
Personally I have no confidence in this EC, and the lack of any new blood on
the EC after the AGM gives me no confidence in the next one. If they can't
handle this matter properly, how can they be trusted with anything else?

Personally I have no confidence in this EC, and the lack of any new
blood on her thigh - sorry, I mean on the EC. If they can't handle
each others genitals - sorry, I mean this MATTER properly, how can
they be trusted with anything else?

In fact, so upset am I that I'm going to the next meeting and when
they ask for questions from the floor I'm going to get my willy out,
SLAP it onto the table in front of them and ask if I can have a laptop-
bag to put it in.  Yes, it IS lovely and deserves as much protection
as the one they gave Mick Ayers.

Sorry, I didn't mean 'willy' I mean 'laptop computer' ...
