OK, I've shifted this to the Hotel des Acacias, just to the north-east
of Lille, very close to the Belgian border.

Somebody please, please tell me that Rue du Dronckaert translates as
Street of the Drunkard, in Flemish :-))

This has enough rooms for all. Bookings at the last place exceeded the
room availability within a day or so. Menu choices look good, too, and
they've got decent

Full details in due course, but I have to pay the hotel deposit in
early December, so I'll be asking for that when I send out the booking
forms next week. Preliminary estimates look like =A3145 per head for two
nights including ferries, and =A3180 for single room sociopaths, but
that's to be confirmed once I've got the ferry quotes.

While this is a long way from the most scenic part of France, it's a
swift nip up the autoroute to Brugge for Saturday.
