Anyone have access to a shot blasting cabinet who could tidy up my hugger/chainguard bracket from the VFR before I get it powder coated ? (Got a local man who has powder coating facilities, but I don't appear to know anyone with a shot blast cabinet !) Beer tokens/vino etc available....
If your local bod doesn't have a shot blaster, then by the time the part gets to them, it could be contaminated with grease / oil / dirt etc, which will comprimise the final finish.
How big is the part / where are you located / how quickly do you need it done? My dad has a blaster and small PC'ing set up (bakes in a domestic oven...) so if all works out might be able to help out. He could probably run it though the next tim ehe doess a batch of blasting.

Any powder coater worth his salt will have a shot or bead blaster, I don't know any that haven't. Have you asked him?

I have a cabinet, but only got some glass beads at the moment which wouldn't be coarse enough for what you need. If you can get some sand[1] you're welcome to come and use it.
[1] There's a place in Reading that supplies it IIRC but I can't find them now.

Paint stripper and then go at them an A/G sporting a curly wire brush wheel.
Done by the time you've found someone who's got a cabinet.

Found somewhere in Stanford In The Vale, chap did it while I waited, charged me the change in my pocket which was around £3.50, dropped it off with the powder coating man who is doing some garden gates tomorrow - said he'll stick em in with them, and then leave it in to do a hot coat which gives a better finish - all for a fiver. Result.

I've got access to both sand and glass blasting gear.
Funnily enough, I've been using it today to clean up a set of VFR downpipes / collector box, and both engine casings.
Much as I like VFRs, they do have a tendency to fur up quite badly in some respects.
