Happy birthday to me! I am still struggling to come to terms with the fact that I am now 60 years old. I may have to go out on the Ducati and ride at seriously illegal speeds just to reassure myself that I am not now doomed to a life of cardigans, slippers and ovaltine.

Welcome to the club. Don't despair, I was just doing some fettling on the bike I am going to ride in speed hill climbs next year.
Must admit to having SORNed the 'tart' until next spring though. Any grabbed jaunts on good days before the spring will have to be on a GFR (is this wise I wonder?). More likely the MX5 ;-)

You can have the best of both, pack your panniers with a cardigan slippers and ovaltine in case you come over all Val Doonigan. Take the Duke for a spin and if you come over all hooligan smear the ovaltine over the number plate before riding at seriously illegal speeds.

Don't worry, 60 is the new 50.

Mazel Tov and welcome to the oldpharts club.
Congratulations on surviving your mud life crisis riding like a cnut on overpowered bikes.
Now is the time to enjoy winding down to the leisurely pace of retirement and watch the world go by. Spoil the grandchildren, grow some roses and ENJOY. The pipe and slippers are optional. Fettling a few SOBs is traditional.

I very nearly managed a spontaneous sky dive today, but they were fully booked. Now I'm looking into doing a full course in Florida for my honeymoon next year, coupled with some theme parks, etc. I have approval from the missus too!

Fuck that. I'll be working until I'm 90 looking at the state of my retirement pot .. :/

Whereabouts in Fla? There's a notorious skydiving school in Deland (near Daytona) close to my in-laws that has a good reputation in providing unnecessary face plants, legs chopped off by the jump plane's propeller, people ending up in the swamp etc pp.

Too bloody right there are, big FOAD Gators. Saw them when we were there about 10 years ago. The most evil looking things I have ever seen. Eyes with no soul behind them and nothing prepares you for how quick they can grab potential food if they want to.

And the unique Florida brand of redneck[1]. With plenty of guns, too.
Actually the gators seem to have migrated into the drainage and ornamental ponds in the recently developed Florida real estate aka ex-swamp. Makes it easier to snatch a passing poodle for breakfast. With or without the owner as an additional appetizer.
There are a couple of lakes in the community my in-laws live in. On one of them in particular, there used to be ducks. The Home owners associations figured they didn't need to check as to why they disappeared. Usually it's an 80%-90% chance that a handbag-in-waiting was involved.

Er... thanks - but fuck that for the time being. I'd rather watch the world flash by as I ride at silly speeds.

I'm glad you reminded me to drag my ass out of bed and enjoy the sun. Forgot to do my intelligence gathering before heading off and almost came a cropper with a mobile unit on the Stirling straights (A811).
Thank you Central Scotland Safety camera partnership, first time I've ever seen a normal unmarked car with a camera unit on the roof. Must have been the first time white van man had seen it too, slamming on his anchors and slewing about the road. Looked like he was going take it out in spectacular fashion too

Soft cunt. I made it a massive day for me. A fuck off big party with 8 bands and 3 solo perormers. 13 months later and that day & night is still being talked about as being "A fucking good do".
I didn't bother celebrating this year, but getting another year older is muh beter than the alternative.
