Industrial plugs Re: Earth bonding of machinery
...You need to replace the '13 Amp' BS1363 plugs & sockets with industrial connectors, such as the 'Commando' type, made by many manufacturers to BS EN 60309-2 (formerly BS 4343). These do vary a bit in quality, but these two manufacturers seem to offer a quality product, available in metalclad versions as well as the more common... more »

DOC, East Coast and the Freedom of Information Act
As Directly Operated Railways Ltd and East Coast Main Line Company Ltd are companies owned by the government, will the Freedom of Information Act apply to them? And would we be able to get anything interesting from them?

From bbc.co.uk Level crossing crash fine anger A £40 fine imposed on a motorist who collided with a train on a level crossing has been criticised by a group representing a railway. No more c2c
According to a parliamentary written answer, DfT Rail will rename c2c Essex Thameside when the franchise comes up for reletting in 2011. When it was privatised first time around the legal company name was LTS Rail Ltd. Is this an example of gentrification? I write as an Essex boy.

They Made It, Didn't Sink On The Way
Here's a link from another forum with some more pictures [link] You know I'm quite warming to these at least they have some style about them unlike other recent locomotives. Side on is the best perspective and those wheels do rather remind you of a Western. OK, what should we call them, well there is only one choice they’re 70... more »

NXEC 'meet the managers' at Kings Cross today
Posters at Kings Cross last Friday were advertising a 'meet the managers' session at Kings Cross today (Monday). I can't find any mention of it on the NXEC web site, though. I don't know what level of management NXEC usually have at these events, and whether hence whether they are above or below the level likely to be affected by the transition next week.... more »

Will Advance fares be any fairer with East Coast?
I've been travelling weekly from Guildford to Peterborough for 5 years now, so have enough mental data to see when they're cheating, and they damn well are now. Will things revert to fairness when East Coast take over. Specifically, I always get a 1st Class Advance each way - on the 09:10 out of KC and the 18:10 out of Pbo home. Currently advance single fares... more »
