No, but I saw the film two weeks ago (weekend of release).
I had to travel a fair way to a cinema that was showing it and whilst the
Barking multiplex was heaving with families queuing to see "Terminator 83"
and paying 4.50 a pop for popcorn and 3.25 for a half-litre bottle of
water, there were no more than about ten people in the theatre showing
"Telstar" (including JN Jnr and I).
The film doesn't actually display all that much to indicate that its origins
were on the stage. There is no doubling of parts and no obvious placing of
famous conversations in the mouths of people known not to have taken prt in
them (cf "A Man For All Seasons" for an example of the opposite).
However, as with almost all rock'n'roll movies (and many showing recent
social history), there are several jarring physical inaccuracies. They get
the Clavioline right, but don't look too closely at the guitars (a Gibson
ES-137 in 1962, anyone?).
Con O'Neill's portrayal of Meek is spellbinding. But then, I've never seen
him deliver anything but the highest quality of performance.

There's a trailer online somewhere, too...
Hang on...
