hi all, a public service announcement. I spotted that my local
guitar emporium has a second hand Blackstar HT5 combo for sale for
£200. Call Bandwagon on 01738 637714 if you're interested. Use my
name and I'm sure they'll be happy to double the price! I'm happy to
assist any UKMGers with a relay or by acting as a shipping point.

I was watching a guy on Jools 'Later' playing a Tele with a Bigsby and
thinking is there a Tele with a standard Strat trem fitted. There is but
it's a Deluxe which loses some of the 'Teleness' so I was thinking if a more
standard Tele is fitted with a Strat trem, arm and belly contours, upper
cutaway, 'plateless' contoured neck joint, extended fingerboard for extra

Said it cost £160, looked right... offered £90, was accepted, went to
see it, bought it.
It's heavily inspired on the Warwick Thumb, without the curved body.
Passive. Slightly neck-heavy too.
But it's pretty sweet. Construction wise is quite well made. Fingerboard

Do you guys generally have compression before or after distortion?
I was putting the compressor first, but having read something on the Keeley
site I swapped it around - I really like the way is makes the distortion
rock solid, but not what it does to the noise floor.
I am officially stuck on the fence with this one. What do you guys prefer?

Hi guys. I bought a used electric guitar and I've been impressed with
the strings it came with. I want to restring my other guitar with the
same brand and gauge but... well, I know the gauge from a micrometer
(10-49s) but not the brand. The only distinctive feature is a red
covering over the strings beginning about 1 1/2 cm from the ball end.
