Thomann not an authorized dealer?? So I guess Roland/Boss don't want or like
the dirty money that Thomann make for them then? Who supplies Thomann I
wonder? Playing Devil's Advocate: Are Roland kind of hinting that Thomann
are selling fake Boss pedals perhaps as they don't appear to want to take

Sorry - glaring error - oops. I actually meant EVH on Beat It LOL that's
twice this week I mixed those two tracks up. Must have been a senior moment

I saw the documentary on Quincy Jones. Those speakers must have had more

Hi Nick, thanks for an amazing reply! FYI I contaced Roland and they
refused to help as I bought the DD7 from Thomann who are not an
"authorized dealer", so I contacted Thomann and they have arranged for a
return and repair which I didn't actually ask for but might as well try,
as on further inspection the DD7 input socket seems pretty ropey.

Hi Jon
OK. I might be wrong, but I think you have one or more ground loops. I
think that your hum problem may be attributable to several different causes
which are possibly summing together into what you are hearing. Treating
each cause should at least reduce the problem for you in stages.
There would seem to be several points in your two guitar/FX chains where the

OK, I've isolated the problem to my LS-2 line selector. The hum and loud
cable crackle does not occur unless the LS2 is connected in my chain. It
immediately precedes the DD-7.
The LS-2's job in my chain is to blend two signals. I have two pickups
in my guitar running at the same time - they both go through their own

Update - went on to the AVG forum and was advised to reinstall AVG8 over the
top of the existing one but select "repair".
I did and it now works again

I've tried it on another PSU too, which is a JohnnyShredFreak. Same
problem, although it is a similar PSU type.
However, as I'm having this weird crackly input socket issue as well,
perhaps that's further evidence for your idea above. Sadly, however, I
