I had a thought about that that I shared with a few people.  Perhaps a
Greatest Hits' package where we each choose a favourite performance
from the last 10 years and do it again.  I'm sure we can pull together
a complete list of tunes from the past 8 years.

Respect to you too, mate. Arguably - no, definitely - the best yet!

I'm not going to list anyone or anything as being especially superb, as it
would just be repeating everything that has been said so far and also might
well exclude others whose names I don't yet know or have forgotten, on
account of my failing memory and hearing, and also the fact that at the
moment I'm slightly - well, absolutely to be honest - three sheets to the
wind on Mr Jameson's finest.

In the words of Mr Terry Wogan, you all made an old man very happy!

Some videos will eventually ensue, when I can remember how to capture, edit
and post them on YouTube.

Oh - and Nige,  you were joking about "maybe" next year, weren't you?
Sorry, mate - you clearly didn't read rule 13(a) of Da Manglement Handbook,
which, inter alia, states:
"UKMGPU(N)s shall be organised on an annual basis by the current or incoming
Manglement on an ongoing and in-perpetuity basis until such time as 99% of
those attending an annual event vote by a show of hands at that meeting to
the effect that such events shall be hereby cancelled."
I don't recall such a vote being held....
;-)

I had a good weekend - looking forward to picking up the vids and
pics.

Didn't realise Caitlin was the drummer - gave her my Email address but
forgot to ask her name....very funky laid-back style. Cool. Had a lot
of fun gassing about studying music - and generally shooting the
breeze. For me, at any rate, a very fired-up rush of a day.

I have no idea whether I played well or not - it's wierd when you get
kind of thrown into it with a bunch of guys you've never met let alone
played with - a bit like being on the X-Factor really.

"Pete! You're on!"

"Fuckin' ell - Better get me 'at then..."

There were some moments - the Killing floor was jaw dropping, as was
'Sylvia' - that takes some bottle to stand up and play because it's so
famous everyone knows every note, stretch and bend of it - kudos - I
am not worthy....

I'm sure I said hello to just about everyone but if I met most people
in the street it would still be "Aren't you so-and-so from UKMG?. I'm
OK with faces but terrible with names, but...Thanks to Nige for doing
the 'phone legwork, and also particularly to Trev Ridney who suddenly
realised halfway through the afternoon that I wasn't being a prima
donna with the amp but actually needed help - I am shit with the whole
sound-chain once it leaves  my fingers.

There was some good jamming at the end - could have done with
more..:-)

Nugent propped me up for "Red House". Good work - I needed the
support. He was prolly the only person in the room older than me.

Bring on the next one.....!

Pete (and thanks - to everyone)

Come to think of it, I know a place not a hundred miles from where
Steve is moving to. Small town (Malestroit), just up the road from
Vannes. Nice little chateaux, sleeps about 24. Very friendly owner.
Last time I looked he was letting it out for about two grand a week,
self catering.

Now that really would be a plot worth plotting - it's in about 10
acres of land - no noise restrictions......

make conversation a bastard,

5. A backline
6. The general will to do it again.

I think 6 is a given, and I'm up for 1. provided that people are
willing to be as cooperative as they were this year with backline
levels (for which thank you!)

I'd like to add a big thank you to the entire group, for personal
reasons - in the run up to this weekend, i'd made my mind up to go
home afterwards, sell all the gear, and forget about guitar playing -
it was no longer doing anything for me, and seemed pointless.

But after the events of this weekend, i'm totally enthused again,
motivated to practice and try and record some stuff etc.

So huge props and hugs to every single one of you, for making that
happen.

We could always do the RMMGA thing and take a place for three nights -
given what everyone will have spent on B&B, eating out & retail prices
for booze it wouldn't be any more expensive. We have managed to get
away with £200pp for the last 3 years, full board, fully catered, all
the beer you can drink.

One of the problems with an electric meeting is that it's
fundamentally noisy - The hall at Hargate is big enough to sleep 35 or
so and the suites are far away enough from the playing area to escape
and get a bit of practice/do workshops/crash etc without being unduly
disturbed.

Wrong.
I can give Jim 7 years.
Or is that the other way round? - I dunno, I'm pissed again...
