Seriously though, logical disconnections aside, is it not bad that I
can't answer these questions, but can work productively (within my
specialisation) in the economy, and our rulers can (probably) answer
these questions, but can't competently or honestly lead the country?

Something nasty is afoot, there's no doubt about that - either a
