Busy reading umra and glanced out of the window to see a google streetview car turning round just outside the house at the end of our close a couple of minutes ago.
Any otherrat noticed their place being streetviewed?

And you weren't outside mowing the lawn, or waving frantically at the time? Wasted opportunity. ;-)

I've seen the car whizzing out of Maryport a few weeks ago. I doubt if it stopped in our village though.

Had I known it was coming, I'd have been outside waving a Tibetan flag or something. As it was, the camera and I just stared at each other open mouthed through the front window as I realised that the window was in dire need of cleaning!

OK - wrong word. I doubt if it slowed down enough to take photos. Surely they don't take photos at 40mph?

Wouldn't surprise me. A high speed digital camera taking 10 frames/second would take a picture every 6' approx. More than enough I'd say.

Hmm. I see there are none from Cumbria so far. Wish I'd been able to take a pic of the car that whizzed past me, but I was driving in the opposite direction at the time so it could have caused a bit of a nasty if I'd tried.

Go to maps.google.com and drag the little man at the top of the zoom slider onto the map, if he's orange (if he's not orange, move or enlarge the map).

Not my place but my daughter's near neighbour was standing at her window when their street was 'done' in Sheffield. They haven't blurred her face, the window must have confused the face recognition imp. -- Penny There are unexpected holes in my ignorance. umra Nicknames & Abbreviations http://www.umra.freeuk.com/nicks.html

I thought it could start a new trend in anti-advertisement. -- Penny There are unexpected holes in my ignorance. umra Nicknames & Abbreviations http://www.umra.freeuk.com/nicks.html

Some airlines insist on you doing so - well, obviously they don't make you travel with it in the first place, but they won't let it go as cabin baggage. Musicians have endless problems travelling with their instruments. I remember hearing a radio feature about some famous bass player who had to book a full-price seat for his double bass. He checked it in a "Mr B Fiddle" and said he generally booked a kosher meal for it, just to be awkward and get his money's worth.
The worst scenario, of course, is if you've been led to believe you can carry something as hand baggage and then when you get to check-in, they insist it's got to go in the hold (perhaps because the plane is full and there's no spare locker space). The item may well be inadequately packaged and more likely to suffer damage if that happens.
