Ikea floor lamp with seperate black box transfomer on a (hard wired) mains lead. 12V output via a socket (one blade and a pin remminiscent of old hi-fi speaker connectors). Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can get a small quantity of leather suitable for repairing the sole of a pair of mocassin style slippers, a little like mukluks? I need something soft and slightly thicker than a chamois leather - I'm going to stick it over the existing sole. It doesn't have to be waterproof. The closest thing I've found so... more »

Misty Windows - Replacement DG Units Available?

Hi all I have a landing window which has started misting up internally. AIUI this indicates failure of the seal between the DG panes. The gap between panes looks like 10mm (guess). Is it still possible to get replacement units at this "thickness"? TIA Phil

Need to hand a mirror on an external wall (plasterboard dot n dabbed onto blockwork). Mirror is fairly heavy, approx 17 kgs. What type of wall plug would you recommend to hang the mirror. TIA

I see in the local glossy a firm offering to take "thermographic" (infra red) pics. of houses etc. The intention is to spot local hotspots (ie because of missing insulation), and damp areas. Seems like a good idea - I have no idea how expensive it is. Just wondering though if anyone knows if/where these cameras can be hired from. Seems... more »

I have never done any sort of gardening, but having been made redundant recently after 18 years of faultless service. Thankfully I may of found a new job but with a pay decrease, just incase you cared :). I have had to cut back on my expenditure like paying for the garden to be done.
