Subject: monopitch ridge roof on cavity wall
Fitting a monopitch roof with wet bedded mono pitch ridge tiles - you
know, the ones shaped like a number 1. They will be on top of a cavity
wall. I cannot find an example of how such a roof is detailed at the
ridge.
At the eaves, the rafters will be birdsmouthed onto wall plate on
inner leaf.
At the ridge, how is the rafter fixed to the wall ? Presumably a wall
plate on the inner leaf, and a birdsmouth at the top also ? Then bring
the outer leaf right up under the mono ridge tile ?
Is there a diagram of this anywhere on the net ?
Thanks,
Simon.

A wall plate is bedded on to the inner wall and fastened with straps.
The rafters are fixed to the wall plate and must go through the outer
brickwork so they protrude beyond a couple inches or cm. The rafter
ends are then cut flush with the out side wall.  This is to enable the
top tile to fit right under the roll of the mono ridge. A lath or
board is fixed to the outer wall in line with the screw holes in the
mono ridge. Screws are not tightened up, as this will disturb the
mortar.
