96 per cent of farm antibiotics are used in pigs and poultry
Pat's Note: "An incredible 96 per cent of farm antibiotics are used in pigs and poultry, the two most intensively farmed species. Even though there are over seven times as many sheep in the UK as there are pigs, total antibiotic use in the pig sector is over 115 times higher than it is in sheep farming. This is because sheep are usually farmed outdoors,... more »

UK E. coli 0157:H7 Outbreak
Pat's Note: As you can see, the USA is getting more and more suspicious of Britain's continuing zoonotic disease outbreaks "E. coli O157:H7 keeps popping up in the strangest places in the United Kingdom." You could not state it better than that. Whilst Britain is still listening to her bent government vets' bizarre... more »

Farm Antibiotics
Pat's Note: Too weak and a touch xenophobic, but otherwise welcome. The Soil Association are far too keen to keep in with a corrupt Defra. They should be running them into the ground. The membership are entitled to much stronger unequivocal words on their behalf. You can't do much sitting on committees with world class failures.... more »

Just in case you wondered
I went into hospital for what was really two operations on Tuesday last and came home yesterday morning. The operations were longer than planned - 5 and a half hours, but so far, it looks good, very good. I was sent home in less than half the usual time, because the hospital went on black alert - for obvious reasons - and they had no beds. I... more »

Antibiotic abuse - US and EU sign agreement
Pat's Note: Maryn McKenna on the move reporting on the increasing interest in the damage being caused by the wild, greedy and irresponsible use of antibiotics in farming by a discredited veterinary industry. The Task Force is the first sign of real external intervention and investigations into just what has been going on in Britain... more »

Hepatitis C from pigs to people especially vets
Pat's Note: Phew! The Veterinary industry is a dead end in more ways than one. field drainage
My old car had its final trip to the breakers today. In an area of Dorset where all the names have 'Marsh' in it, giving a clue to its character. Cycling back (public transport being what it is) I end up with soaking feet from cycling along streams, formally known as roads. Many acres of fields where now ponds.... more »

Monty Roberts Newsletter/Join UP/ The Original "Horse Whisperer"
Dear UKBA: This isn't a commercial endorsement on my part.....it's just that as a horse owner and trainer, I endorse Monty's principles and have used them myself. I've witnessed abuses of horses by trainers that I found un-acceptable, and knew there had to be better ways. The results have been good for us, and for our own horses.... more »
