When you first start a professional home teeth whitening treatment your dentist may tell you to sleep with your trays on overnight, lots' of dental surgeons' tell you to sleep with your trays on, but you do not have to do this, the first reason is that when you sleep wearing your dental trays you can digest the dental bleach although it should not cause harm it can cause you to have heartburn, the worst side effect from sleeping with your trays is that you can overbleach your teeth and thus get some sensitivity with a feeling of cold in your teeth...often described as like a cold wind blowing on your teeth.
I have dealt with thousands of people who bleach there teeth and also deal with dental surgeons on a daily basis, and time after time the feedback from sleeping wearing your trays can be negative due to the senstivity, I my self had senstivity from wearing bleaching trays' many years ago and I feel that you do not need to sleep wearing your teeth whitening dental trays.
My advise is simple: When you first start using a dental bleach at home then you should treat the bleach with caution, do not rush your teeth whitening treatment, when you first get your polanight dental bleach you should start with just 10mins bleaching wear time on the first treatment, and then on your second treatment build the wear time up to 20 mins' the third can be for 30'mins and then you can work up to 2 hours a day for up to 14 days, 28 hours of bleaching treatment should give you excellent whitening results'. Do not feel under pressure to sleep wearing your dental trays, the advice from dentists' is to sleep wearing them but speak to your dentist and ask if you are ok wear for less time. It is always best to follow the advice from your dentist but in this case I feel that sleeping with them on is not a good idea, but it is upto you on how long you should wear your teeth whitening trays.
