I would suggest getting one from mixed breed dog for stability of health and all around good temperment. Pure breeds are good for people who know exactly the personality they want in a companion animal and choose based on that, not because it's trendy or a matches the decor. Some people need a docile, lazy dog, others need a firecracker who has a lot of energy. It pays to assess ones own temperment honestly, and read up about the breeds.
