Hello All,

I know its 2 years (Gosh) since I fell off the VTS but hopefully a few
of the oldies might still remember me.

Its been a mad couple of years. After VTS I did the Liverpool DTM&H
followed by some months in Eastern Chad with Medecins-Sans-Frontieres,
and then some General Practice in London- from Southall aka

- Attending Old age conference

Hi Guys,

Right the useful things.....
I have really enjoyed the VTS...
1. I like they fact that it is essentially run by us as per adult
education. By doing the sessions ourselves we are able to develop our
skills as Teachers / educators and it gives a valuable oppurtunity for

Christmas Do

xmas do. We were considering the dog racing at Monmore Green Wolves.
Unfortunatly the restaurant is not available in December but is with
the same deal in January. The party pack is available but this is not
a sit down do simply a basket meal. What do people think?

The introduction given by Rup, Alan and Cath was brilliant and funny.
The choice of venue was excellent. The view of the Lake and the
surrounding
beauty was stunning and in all honesty, stole the show.

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!
I contacted the BMA. They have phoned me today and have told me (and
emailed me) that their guidance states that if you have completed your
R7 (or have signed your contract for Reg year) before April 1st... YOU
ARE ENTITLED TO A 65% SUPPLEMENT!!!!!!
I have an email from my BMA correspondent... so if anyone needs a copy

I've had an email from the deanery stating that the travel allowance
reduction SHOULD NOT affect any GPR who started their GPR training
before 1st August i.e. Cath you definitely get to continue with the

Travel Allowance

Guys...
Helen (PM at Caxton) has been doing some digging around. The
allowance has not been totally lost. There is a small amount which
should be received for using your car to get to work and home. Also
there should be a certain amount you get for miles covered during home
visits. Previously we used to get a set amount of around £375 which

Guys I am so sorry to hear this whole palava has started up again - I
am pretty sure I still have copies of the emails that went out if any
of you have deleted them. Martin Wilkinson was actually very receptive
to the Emails that I sent him - we wrote to quite a few people - Alan
has all the details.

Hey,
That was the last i had heard too - until my practice manager tells me
the same thing - that i will now be given 55% and no car allowance. I
still plan on writing a letter to Wilkinson - i just need to get more
details from my practice manager - and i think you should do the
same.

Correct me if I am wrong guys... but as far as I was aware, Alan
Woodall had made this huge effort to oppose the 65% to 55% pay
supplement cut in GPR pay. The last I heard... we had email
correspondence from Mr Wilkinson at the deanery (the message was
posted on SVTS) saying if Registrars applied before a certain date

Race for life

you. It's 5km which i know won't sounds like far to most of you but
i've not run more than 400m before and even that was over 10 years ago

Dear Colleages,
Last thursday's group presentation was made interesting, although it
was a difficult topic.
I liked the idea of debate - which was fun although it was civilised
(without jeering and hooting - unlike in some places !!!)
Group work did bring out different perspectives regarding Euthanasia.

the conference is organised on parallel seminars basis and, does have
some sessions aimed at F2s but the majority of sessions (7/10) are
aimed at GP registrars. For example, Im booked to attend seminars on:
1. How to choose the right partnership
2. Academic primary care
3. Flexible and sessional working in GP
