Subject: Registrar Pay
Correct me if I am wrong guys... but as far as I was aware, Alan
Woodall had made this huge effort to oppose the 65% to 55% pay
supplement cut in GPR pay.  The last I heard... we had email
correspondence from Mr Wilkinson at the deanery (the message was
posted on SVTS) saying if Registrars applied before a certain date
they would be PAY PROTECTED.

How is it I am finding that Mr Wilkinson is now telling practice
managers that they are to treat August registrars as starting new
posts... and therefore enforce the 55% supplement. As well as this the
deanery have withdrawn the money registrars used to get for
transport....  WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON??????

Please someone tell me I havent missed something... Did anyone else
know we had been blatantly lied to???  I think there are respect
issues here that are being savaged... I so wish people in higher
positions didnt feel the need to shaft us...  I cant believe I
bothered to do an extended period in hospital... I should have done
four months less... and kept the extra £4,500 for the year by opting
to be a GP reg earlier. Now we have the joy of a paycut... and exam
costs in excess of £1,500 (assuming you pass everything first time),
plus the £500 membership before you can actually do the exams.

I really am pissed off.

All registrars please make sure you record your mileage.

Cheers guys

Raj

Hey,

That was the last i had heard too - until my practice manager tells me
the same thing - that i will now be given 55% and no car allowance. I
still plan on writing a letter to Wilkinson  - i just need to get more
details from my practice manager - and i think you should do the
same.

Guys I am so sorry to hear this whole palava has started up again - I
am pretty sure  I still have copies of the emails that went out if any
of you have deleted them. Martin Wilkinson was actually very receptive
to the Emails that I sent him  - we wrote to quite a few people - Alan
has all the details.

Am gutted about the travel expense issue - I was so grateful while it
lasted - large portion mileage!!

Good Luck!!

Cath

Hi guys, just got back from my holiday and seen all of this.

I've had an email from the deanery stating that the travel allowance
reduction SHOULD NOT affect any GPR who started their GPR training
before 1st August i.e. Cath you definitely get to continue with the
previous rate.  So if any of you who started in your practice before
1st Aug have now had your travel allowance reduced then the PCT/
deanery has got it wrong.  The deanery are aware of this and are
trying to make sure that people are reimbursed correctly but check
it!  If anyone has any problems then I'm happy to forward the email to
you, just let me know.

Charlotte x
