My first Solar installation

For some time now I have had what i would call an emergency solar
lighting system in my house for use only at times of mains/grid
failure. This does in fact happen quite a few times during the year,
the system quite simply has one roof mounted 65w roof mounted panel

I was wondering if it was possible to use a inverter connected to a
battery that feeds power to a battery charger via an controller that
in turn tops up the battery thereby if my calculations are right, the
battery never run down and yet get about 150w spare capacity from an
300w Inverter (FREE ELECTRICITY)?

The next questions should also be

How much do I think I already know?
How much do I want to learn?
How much do I want to pay? - the information is free, but you maybe
better off buying a book to help yourself get focused first. Then go
to the .gov / nrel or other state agencies site to find out more

 Looking After Your Leisure Battery
First of all, what is a leisure battery!
There are two main types of battery:-
1. Standard car battery
2. Leisure battery for marine, caravan or such things as solar power
Although it is not impossible to use either battery in any of the
above situations, the leisure battery has been designed to supply
