I can't get hold of a copy of "Making Sense of the Census" until tomorrow, so I'm pushing this out in case anyone can answer it before then.

In which years, if any, was the receipt of parish relief recorded in the census? I have a great many in 1851, one or two in 181 and one in 1911, so it would be interesting to find out whether ot not this was regularly recorded or not. I have a feeling it was in the enumerator's instructions for a single census, but I'm good at being wrong.

Any assistance gratefully received!

Only in the sense that those who received it were
described as 'pauper, formerly agricultural labourer'  etc
