Subject: Help on a tricky case, a real challenge
Hi Researchers -

I am pleading for help in searching for information on Ellen Rose
Sefton, born 19/1/1893 in France (R.C.?) to William Charles Sefton
according to marriage certificate when she married a John Charles Cuzen
in Bombay on 12/1/1918.  His father is shown as William Cuzen, mother's
name not known.  It is not known whether John Charles Cuzen died or they
could not divorce.  Ellen was also involved with James Kirkwood, (but
did not marry him) and had two children with him, one being my mother,
Ellen Theresa Sefton Kirkwood born 27/8/1925 at Cambusbarron, Stirling
Scotland.  My mother's birth certificate shows her mother still using
her married name (E.R. Cuzen) and her father as James Kirkwood.  It
actually states on the birth certificate under names, etc. of baby's
mother as Ellen Rose Cuzen, maiden surname Sefton, wife of John Charles
Cuzen, Indian Police Service to whom she was married 12/1/1918 at
Bombay.  The other child born to James Kirkwood and Ellen Rose was James
Kirkwood b.4/8/1926 in Darjeeling, India.  Ellen Rose Sefton apparently
had a sister called Val. (married name Hamilton).  It is believed her
husband was a dentist.

Ellen Rose Sefton (or Cuzen or Kirkwood) died in a nursing home (now
Elton Lodge) situated at 24 Selden Road, Worthing, under the name
Kirkwood on 21/12/1980 with the informant being Eleanor Dickins.

If anyone is able to shed some light on the above or give some advice it
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Patricia

Are you connected to the "Billington family tree" on Ancestry.com?
There was nothing there on Ellen Rose Sefton's parents, but there was
some documentation on descendants. Let me know if you are not aware of
this posted tree & I will get what I can for you from it. Best, Bronwen
