Sounds good.
Steve Giles at S&Wrong said that Yaesu's distributor stopped supplying some
PG shops with this radio as they said it was not suited to heav\y handed
pilots :-) They said that for PG it should always be used with a separate,
robust PTT if possible. I have this set-up, its quite amusing in a way as

Thought I would share this with people.

I've had a problem with my Yaesu VX2e Radio recently. PTT was not working.
I investigated all sorts of options to try and get a repair done but to no
avail (no one was willing to have a look at it, or I was quote £45 'just to
have a look' or worse was advised to chuck it out and by a new set -

All,
We will hold the AHPC round of the Nationals this weekend as planned.
Based at Braemar rather than Aboyne as Big Bad Bob is going to Spain so
won't
be there to look after us at the Glding Club.
Major Simon has a house in Braemar which sleeps 6 in beds (most taken I
think), has floor space and room in the garden for half a dozen tents.

All,
I see Dave has beaten me to it in the thanks! I couldn't make it along
in the end because I have a bad back, which was pretty galling! The raw
buzz of excitement I felt as the race was running is starting to fade
now into a warm memory and I want to write some of it down before the

I know it is not 100% paragliding related but it has a large environmental issue (and reduced irritation factor) I thought you might appreciate....

This site was set up by the royal mail to allow you to stop junk mail being delivered to your house - it worked for me for now at my nth address and only takes about 50seconds to do. Saves the hasssle of junk mail and saves a bit of paper to boot....

To be honest, I have done a lot of flying in the chamonix area, annecy, southern france and the weather in April can be more than fickle!

Does anyone have any experence of further afield such as greece, spain, canaries etc

Paul, re. Redpoint, the last time i was there i wasn't flying... Not with a wing at any rate.. I think some jumping was involved! I can't recall if it'd be any good for soaring to be honest. It was blowing a hooley and i hardly looked up! Re. Fly downs forgive me if i'm about to offer unwanted advice! Before any flight you need to be confident of the conditions you'll encounter when you're in the air so your judgment is just as important for a flydown as for any other flight.

Thanks to those who got back to me with info.
I'm wondering if I am perhaps being a little ambitious with my skill level.
I was aware of the military jet problem having climbed (on foot, not
thermalling unfortunately) to the top of Liathach and watched Tornados

Just saw your email, apologies for not getting back sooner. May
generally provides our most 'active' flying with strong thermals and
conditions which can be very challenging. These are large coastal hills
and are remote in the sense that it is possible to get yourself a long
way from populated areas quite quickly. It's not a place I would suggest

Entries have now opened for the Scottish Paragliding Open. This will be held within the Borders round of the BP Cup based at Tibbie Shiels Inn, at St Marys Loch in the Borders.
It will be a 4 day competition and costs £70 (or £60 if you are a newcomer to BP Cup ), and requires Pilot Rating.

In May this year, we will be hosting the first round of the British Paragliding Cup (9th -12th ), and, later the same week (14th -17th), The British Paragliding Championships. BHPA Club Coach Course - Aberdeen - 14/15 Feb 2009

The hero seems to be a doddle to use so far. Editing on my old PC is another
story :-)
I made my first flying film with it at the weekend at Gourdon. A nice flight
to Courmettes/ Tourettes and back via Kennedy. The hero recorded the first
50minutes of flight which I then edited down. I added some Zeno-esque music.

This weekend will be the rescheduled date for the LLSC round of the Nationals. The forecast is good for flying at Tinto both Saturday and Sunday.
