Writers Log - Wednesday 9th September 2009
I have to admit it has been a bit of a surreal week all around.
Strange things seem to be happening, odd coincidences, recalled
memories from long ago, messages from old friends thought long lost.
Oh enough of this Yodaesque bunkum!! Back to the novels, a week off
and I have been writing a fair old bit to the point where a word count
of ‘London Bridge’ this evening nearly made me fall off of my chair in
shock as it came in at over 101,000 words and there is still a large
chunk left to write. That is before we even take into account that
this is merely the first part of a two part story.
One of the major problems with writing ‘London Bridge’ has been it
complexity, there are numerous different characters involved across
numerous locations around the country and it is only now in the last
third of the novel that they are all starting to head back (or limp
back in one case) to London for the climatic cliff hanger that is
approaching.
If all goes according to plan and I don’t wind up either volunteering
for any more rest days (got no one to spend the extra money on anyway
so why am I bothering?) or having to sort out the latest strange
goings on courtesy of my increasingly strange (not to mention rapidly
decreasing in number) relatives then you never know I might just have
‘London Bridge’ finished sometime in the next few weeks.
Meanwhile someone has suggested I join the twenty first century (cue
incredulous laughter) and spread my wings a bit communications wise
and as a result I am looking at starting a Facebook or Twitter page in
the near future which will be linked in with the novel series as well
as me personally. You never know I may just find that old friend who
I haven’t seen in fifteen years who still owes me twenty quid….
That is all for now so until next time…
