Writers Log – Sunday 30th August 2009
Hello once again.
It has been a bit if a busy period for me both in terms of work and
also the novel writing. As I type this over on a separate computer,
the various parts of the next novel 'London Bridge' are being copied
over all into one place.
The problem has been that I have to grab moments when I can write
here, there and everywhere which means that I have bits of novel
spread across three different machines plus one PDA and a palmtop as
well!!
This has already led to a couple of howling continuity errors along
the way as for one I have just realised I have a scene set in the
Commander's office at New Scotland Yard where a character refers to an
incident in progress that hasn't even begun yet so a little judicious
sorting out is still required.
It didn't help that when I started writing it I created a character
who is/was the head of MI6 called Sir John only for the MI6 to
actually appoint a new chief called Sir John just a few weeks later so
that is another thing I will need to change. Art imitating life or is
it the other way around?
As it stands 'London Bridge' is about 80% complete with the closing
act still to come although really this will only be the half way point
as it leads straight into what is in effect part two of this storyline
with the seventeenth novel 'Cannon Street'.
At the moment I am expecting to complete 'London Bridge' sometime
around late September but as of yet I am not sure when I will be
actually making it available on the website (which I admit I really
must get around to updating at some point) as I don't want too large a
gap between the cliffhanging end of 'London Bridge' before you get to
find out what happens in 'Cannon Street'.
Anyway that is enough for now so until next time...
Regards
John M Upton
