I closed the survey last night and haven't had a chance to work out exactly how to export and compile the results yet.
Of course, typically, I can't actually get to survey monkey at the minute to get some proper stats.
What I can tell you from memory is this : Of the 100 people that the survey went out to on email only 31 responded. An addition 11 people responded using the link provided above. So a total of 42. Not the greatest of responses from direct emails. Glad to see a few additional responses.
Source control looks to be a hot topic and something like ~50% of the responders said they preferred IRL meetings over online meetings. However, most of the responders say that they would have trouble attending meetings.........
When I can get onto survey monkey (probably tonight) I'll see what I can do about compiling and publishing appropriate parts of the responses.

Yeah cold calling stuff you would expect a 1% return. Warm calling I think is something like 5%.
I'm pleased with the responses we got and there is some interesting stuff in the results, even with this rather simplistic survey, and has encouraged me to keep the UG going. Initially I suspect we'll stick to the online meetings, but, time allowing, we'll get a pub meet of some kind sorted.
Even though the response rate is ~ 40% I still kinda hoped that, given that everyone in this group asked to be a part of it, the response rate would be higher still.

are you sure that 25 of those responses were not from James Buckingham himself?

Could be anything though - bad email addresses, stuck in Spam (which if you sent through SM itself is a very high chance).

Just so you know what I'm up to... I spent last night cutting and pasting the survey results out of survey monkey (knew I should have just installed Soundings....) I'm going to do a bit more reading and editing to order up the results and so on and then I'll do something to make them all pretty and publish the results.
The Scottish CFUG site is now being hosted on a Hostway server c/o Andy and FuzzyOrange - Andy is also setting up a dev site so that I can move the content and set up a new site that I can actually update and build upon.
In terms of meetings - The top ranking topics from the survey were Source Control and Ticketing. I can't guarantee anything, but I'm thinking of grovelling to Sean Corfield to repeat the presentation that he gave at a Wee Dram via Connect and I'll need to have a think about Trac... Either I'll do something or I'll see if I can collar one of the developers for Trac. Both of these I'm going to try to get arranged for before Christmas. Only problem is fitting it all in around Andy's stag do, wedding and work... ;)
Stephen PS. If you hadn't already guessed the UG has received a stay of execution.... For now.....
The domain still points at one of our servers in the US (HostMySite) but I migrated everything over the last two days to Hostway and once I'm happy with the set up I'll update the DNS.
For the new site I've deployed SavaCMS, which is a free/open source CMS system that works with both CF7/8 and Railo (we're running CF8.01 Ent on the server). Interestingly, it's also what Railo use to power their own website.
Stephen and myself will look to get the new site working ASAP and once we have, I guess it would be only fair for one, if not both of us to give a preso on Sava.
Though as Stephen says, I have: * house move (tomorrow) * stag do (this saturday) * wedding (4 weeks on Saturday) * shit loads of work
to get out of the way first :)
