No just get rid of cfinput ;-). You see a lot of ppl asking similar questions to this on the forums and most of them are because they try to use the "out the box" features beyond the basics that they offer. It's usually easier in the long term to cook up your own.

I could do with some advice for an admin form here. The input is fairly
straight-forward, the user needs to select a doctor from a list of several
hundred.

Normally, I would just use a <select>, as this means I can pass the doctorID
field as the value.

I've managed to get the numbers for the Aberdeen one up to 5-6 with a
few more I'm waiting to hear back from still.

Is there anyone in the group that would be interested in coming to
this one rather than Glasgow / Edinburgh? I'm thinking Dundee area or
anyone else in Aberdeen I might have forgotten? Maybe even further

I've got a couple of servers I plan to upgrade over the next few months, but
I haven't even had time to install a dev copy of CF9 yet...

I'd always recommend buying from a re-seller like Andy, as it gives you

Awesome ... and remember that with CF9 you no longer need to purchase
licenses for dev/test/staging/qa

Oh and for folks using Enterprise, remember that CF9 is MUCH cheaper
than 8 so new licenses and upgrades are considerably less hurtful on
your pocket.

Remember that there is NO direct upgrade form path from 6.1 to 9 - you
will need to do a brand new install.

If you've kept your maintenance active then you should have CF7/8
licenses kicking about so you could upgrade from 6.1 to 7/8 and then
upgrade to 9.

(I don't encourage upgrades though, just to confuse you!).

Has anyone upgraded to CF9 yet?
If so, did you buy from Adobe.com, an online store like Amazon,
through a reseller like Fuzzy Orange, or did you have maintenance?
Does everyone know you can get maintenance with ColdFusion?
Maintenance comes in two forms:
2 year Maintenance
Platinum support (annual)
Both entitle you to free upgrades during the maintenance period.

Definitely worthwhile, I was messing with hibernate I CF9 today. Very
impressed so far (after I discovered ormreload ), but there's never enough

Yep, I'd be up for a BYOL day in Edinburgh in January (holidays

You might want to try re-writing the first query using GROUP BY to get the
aggregate information. Some of the filters would go in the WHERE statement,
and some in a HAVING statement.
Been a while since I've used HAVING, so I'm not 100% sure this will work

Used Hostek / Hostfolio with a couple of sites.
Pretty reliable and great turnaround on support but their shared hosting
servers can get a bit heavy at times. I guess $40 a year is attractive
to a lot of people but all good as long as you don't run any heavy
scripts on them.

Never been down that route, and its not actually for me. I need something that a non-techie can set up/maintain if I'm not about.

Its to replace an existing hosting as the company currently being used is dropping CF, cfmxhosting.co.uk (Alan's suggestion) could be useful as I know that my mate has PHP hosting as well and it might be more cost effective to pull them together into a single reseller account.

I haven't used shared hosting for several years now. Dedicated, VPS and
cloud hosting are all relatively cheap and give you full control over the
(virtual) box.
Only downside is that you need a CF license. However Railo comes free, so is
another option.
