Yeah defiantly, the software looks great.

Who in marketing thought it would be a good idea to unleash Andy in the
"community feedback" videos to introduce it though  :-p

Bite me!!! :p

Also, CF9 Enterprise has dropped in price by about £1,000, and the
EULA has also changed to allow cloud hosting, and free
development/staging

Enterprise version might still be a hard sell for me despite the £1k
price-drop. However the free staging license is a big bonus

The cloud-hosting faq is a bit unclear:
"ColdFusion 9 introduces instance-based licensing which allows you to
install ColdFusion 9 in the cloud environment of your choice. With Standard
edition you can install one cloud instance in addition to your 2 CPUS and
with Enterprise edition you can install a maximum of 10 concurrent instances
in addition to your 2 CPUs."

Does this mean I could buy one standard license, run it on a cloud instance,
and run a separate dedicated 2cpu server at the same time?

I think someone summed it up quite nicely as more like a 50% price drop,
because you no longer have to purchase multiple licenses in order to deploy
ColdFusion to a Staging server.

Plus as of ColdFusion 8 you can deploy a "hot spare" on the same license as
your production server.

So you're talking about 3 server installations for the price of one. Seems
like a bargain to me.

Oh and you get to use the full extJS 3 library without having to purchase
licenses, which run from $329 to $16,500. Obviously there is only update
support via ColdFusion updates, but still.. more money you're saving by
purchasing a £1000 standard license or a £4200 enterprise license.

I'd missed the extJS stuff. Can you use extJS as you would normally under
the CF license, or only via the ajax tags?

As you would normally, but only in conjunction with ColdFusion.

Just another step in his plans for CF world domination.
