The Nature of "Now"
Hello Folks, I have been monitoring this forum for a while and think this might be the place to ask for help. I am not a professional physicist but I have a BS in physics so I know a bit of the language. I have been thinking about the nature of "now". What happens at that boundary called "now" between an unknowable future where systems,... more »

Double Slit Experiment
--- [[Mod. note -- I have rewrapped the excessively-long-lines in the author's original submission, and inserted paragraph breaks. -- jt]] Hi,   I read your article on the Double Slit Experiment over and over (as well as many other articles on the subject) and have several questions that nobody has been able to successfully answer. Hopefully... more »

Question about photon wavefunction
I have often seen an photon field quantum A^u written in terms of a polarization vector epsilon^u and plane wave exp[ip^.ux_u] as: A^u = epsilon^u exp[ip^u x_u] (1) 1) Is p^u considered to be the momentum vector of that subject photon, or an independent variable of integration unconnected to the photon?... more »

Gamma matrices representations
I understand that there are different representations of the Dirac Gamma matrices - Pauli-Dirac, Weyl, Majorana - all related by a unitary transformation. However I read about a "Majorana mass" etc. Since mass is a scalar and should not vary under a unitary transformation why are there diferent "masses?"... more »

is zpe = dark energy = higgs ocean = Goldstone Phase
Hi all (apologies for cross-posting) I wanted to ask what is (according to current understanding) the relationship between: 1. Zero Point Energy 2. Dark Energy 3. Higgs Ocean and 4. the Goldstone Phase Also, if "mass" is caused by particles moving through the Higgs Ocean (as stated here: [link]),... more »

Accelerating rocket/light beam question
An observer in a uniformly accelerating rocket observes a light beam from a laser projected horizontally from one wall of the rocket to the other (perpendicular to the direction of acceleration). The observer cannot see outside, so he cannot determine his state of motion. For all he knows, he could be at rest in a uniform gravitational field. The... more »
