Subject: MALAYSIA TRULY ASIA?

Reproduced below verbatim is a letter publised in the online malaysiakini.com which is self explanatory.
I would like to invite Vanajah the trainee astronaut to consider carefully the following:-

  i) While we have a moral obligation to be loyal citizens, we need not allow the racist elte to use us to further their chauvinistic ends.Your selection for the programme was purely cosmetic. Hari Kiamat will begin if the racists allow you to represent the country.
Prof Rao, an electrical engineer after many frustrating years at MU is now with the National University of Singapore where his talents are valued and his person respected. Recently he and his research came up with sw programme to enable PRC citizens not conversant with English to access the many English libraries on the internet. The racists until today are unable to find a non Malay competent enough to head a public university although the bulk of the tax revenue is paid by non Bumis.

The guy Malek was awarded a datukship for swimming the English ---- the umpteenth man to do so--- but Nicole David did not receive a similar title for emerging as the world's best in squash. Nor was Radhakrishnan the strong man who pulled a train weighing more than 260 tons with his teeth for distance of more than a metre, beating the record set by the Belgian.

ii) Malkaysia Truly Asia like many other propagandastic slogans is for the tourists only --- mainly targeted at the white skinned mat salleh type. Raja Petra Kamaruddin seems to think that the BN has no plans to integrate the Indian community with the main stream society. Rather Indians are thought of as a 'problem' which will somehow go away.

iii ) Back Door Islamisation is in full swing. A revisionist history is taught to our children. The contributions of the minority citizens to the culture and economy are trivialised, or a spin is put on them which makes the Bunis who have hardly exerted themselves in these areas look great.

iv) Squatter settlements in the main towns in which Indians were prominent were torn down on the grounds that they disfigure.the landscape and are the source of epidemics. However a pussy footing approach is adopted with regard to the large colonies of illegal immigrants from Indonesia who have made their homes on the fringes of the forests in Melawati, Gombak and Puchong. The children of these seetlers go to government schools. Members of the public have complained about this to the press.

If you decide to opt out of the programme, I would give you my full support.

  MIC, please wake up!

On April 21, Kuala Lumpur City Hall demolished a century-old Hindu temple, the Malaimel Sri Selva Kaliamman Hindu Temple in Kuala Lumpur. The bulldozers tore down the temple even as the faithful devotees who were praying there cried and begged them to stop. I don't remember reading about this in the mainstream media. Neither did I hear a single MIC person come out and say a word.
Then the Shah Alam City Council were supposed to demolish another century-old temple in Section 11, Shah Alam yesterday. At the time I write this, I understand the temple is still standing on a four-week repreive.
Is this the much-spoken Islam Hadhari at work? Is this the ground-breaking (pun intended) for the Ninth Malaysia Plan? Do the powers-that-are seriously think unity can be achieved with such a blatant display of intolerance against Malaysia's most discriminated race?
The Hindu Indians in this country have nothing left except for our temples and schools. Most of them are in bad shape anyway. The only thing the MIC seems to be interested in right now is its own elections. ‘Who get's what post?’, ‘Will the president's men prevail?’, ‘Will there be an upset?’
Wake up MIC, wake up! I ask nothing more of you than what you claim to be. The sole voice of the Indian community. While you leaders breast-beat in public and claim one-upmanship over your internal rivals, you are seldom around to defend the community you represent. Or so it seems to me at least.
I don't really care who has mistresses and where he built bungalows for them. But when the core issues of the community are not addressed and the Indian community has to beg the opposition, other backbenchers, etc, to defend their often trampled upon rights, something is really wrong.
No MIC leader said anything when the Parliament jester from Jerai referred to Indians as ‘keling’. Nope. The MIC might, but the Indians won't forget that one. We won't forgive either.
