in fairness, browsing usenet is pretty far outside most of MS'
customers' concerns, and for the ones that do care, there are any number

i'm sure we can find decent threaded discussion board software. there
have to be free discussion hosting sites that don't suck.
i would like to see the usenet group survive, but if it that wasn't
possible, i'd still want to be posting some place with the regulars who
would still be interested if that were an option.

it wasn't nearly as slow then, and it just didn't seem necessary to move.
totally agreed, i'm big on keeping my online posting identities totally
separate from my real life identity for pretty much the same reason.
bse had suggested last.fm at one point a year or two ago, and i think
that'd be a pretty appropriate place to go. i finally joined the rmhh

My first thought when i heard it 20+ years ago or whatever was having

I actually paid for it. You could easily get a serial though from Serial Box.
It's made by a small independent company named Panic. They have a lot
of really cool and unique very well designed apps, so I definitely
don't mind throwing money their way.

I think that it is a great play on words because it can obviously be
interpreted in so many ways. Geographically speaking, it would refer to "The

I'm not Aussie, but looking at the cover, I'd draw the same
conclusion. It most probably relates to either the physical and
geographical rural-urban divides of Australia - which are obviously
