The Game of Surrounding aka _wei chi_ in the original Chinese or _baduk_ (Korean) or "turff" is so far in barbarian tongues most commonly called by its Japanese name of "_go_", which word naturally can be somewhat confusing in translation into English.
Although in millennia of traditional folklore, masters of the profound game have a reputation for wisdom, one sometimes notes departures from this high level in the actual behavior of players on-line.

15 yard penalty for with hodling information:
Was he making repeated bad moves that he asked an undos on each occasion, or did he make a single bad move and ask several times that you undo that single move?
Did you snip some info here? I am a bit confused, why did he say thx?
> jiva [1k]: you don't want to give me an undo for a mis click? > jiva [1k]: ok... > jiva [1k]: i'll just sit here and watch porn while you wait for me to > lose on time then. > womack [1k]: you mislabel a minor hasty error > jiva [1k]: nope > jiva [1k]: my hand was in the wrong area > jiva [1k]: as soon as i saw your move i accidentally clicked in lower > right
To render judgment about who is being unreasonable here, I would have to see the move that he made. Maybe it was an obvious misclick.
> jiva [1k]: you can wait for 7 minutes > jiva [1k]: that's fine > jiva [1k]: you're winning anyway > jiva [1k]: i don't see why you want to be an asshole.
I do not really see any of what he said as being unreasonable if, for instance, he clicked on the 1-1 point instead of clicking on an obvious forcing move. I would probably feel the same way. If the time frame were 10 minutes for 25 moves, and he felt you were being a jerk (I would have to see the context of the undo to make that call myself) , then why not use up all the clock?
> jiva [1k]: but i guess that old man in your picture is an asshole too > womack [1k]: "Asshole!" cried the turd as it dropped into the toilet > bowl with a splash. > jiva [1k]: nice, trying to diffuse the sutation with a funny joke. > jiva [1k]: i'm sure your Hello Jiva was pure sarcasm, considering your > present behavior > womack [1k]: I have captured our convo and may publish it

I will say, given that he did resign the game, that I will probably avoid playing with you. The resignation is ultimately the primary act of honor.

This is an embarrassment to both of you. But actually, I think more to you than to jiva. He is probably still a young male with a little growing up to do and still has time to do it. You on the other hand , are running out of time.
> Had Mr.Hendrick apologized for his rudeness like a gentleman, then > might I have felt some compunction about publishing this little bit of > nonsense.
When my opponent makes a physically clumsy mistake, I grant him the requested undo or sometimes even initiate it myself, adding the warning "once only". Errors of judgment OTOH are part of the game and one is both entitled and supposed to take advantage of such. Indeed, punishing inferior play = one of the game's basic motifs.
When I misplace a stone (on-line, of course), then instantly I go into Emergency Mode, flash to my opponent "TYPO! PLS UNDO!" & hit the undo button. On the rare occasions when the opponent refuses to allow undo for an obvious physical slip, then I may resign if the damage therefrom was too important. Then "censor" the bad sport.
In the particular case which generated this thread, my opponent "jiva" 1k was losing --as he confessed in the text and is obvious from the game record, of which more anon-- when he made a hasty but rational move in the SE corner @ S3 which cost him a couple of points. After I had already replied to his error by taking a small ko @ L15 in the NE corner, he then resorted to multiple "undo" punching. His "thx" was sarcastic after my definite refusals and was also the first word he said on the subject.
Did Nameless "Brent* (henceforth "NB") charge me with "with hodling" info before himself asking me for it?
In the originating post I already pointed out that: "KGS games, unless embargoed for some reason, are permanently available in the Archives by player-name."
Now come to find out that the Archives also preserve the record of the Game Chat Panel, which anyone including NB can easily check for herself --or himself or, in the case of the nameless, itself.
My impression of this game = after losing a decisive group, "jiva" was acting like a spoiled brat, looking for an excuse to cover up his defeat, at least in his own mind. His perverse whining & ridiculous threats against me flesh out this picture. After a moment's reflection on my direct rebuttal, jiva did come to his senses enough to resign the game and to make a halfhearted gesture to "call it even". Which is more than can be said for our subsequent commentator NB, who came along in cold blood, with unlimited time for reflection on the published & recommended record --did he but choose to avail himself thereof-- and fecklessly tried to render judgment against me for my simple narrative.
NB seems to be running for the title of the Snot-Nosed Kid, if I may say so gracefully. While it would be wrong to say that all Christians are fools, NB's sorry example does serve to remind us that many fools call themselves Christians --as if, after Pope Ratzo, Pat Robertson, John Hagee** and that whole bent lot of bloody-handed Bible-thumpers, we really needed any such reinforcement. BTW NB's self-proclaimed "Christian" I.D. appears via the "View Profile" option leading to its other posts, at least using the Google newsreader.
Does NB actually play our game at all? If so, will it reveal its rank?
Climbing a few levels of discourse:
IMHO the exalted role of "turff" aka the Game of Surrounding etc. in the traditional cultures of the Three Home Countries may go far towards explaining their comparatively peaceful historical record WRT matters of religion. Although the Bible commonly honored by the Jews, Christians & Muslims does have some powerful poetry, its notorious subjectivity has long lent itself to abuse by vain patriarchal wannabee theologians who wind up trying to win their arguments with cannons. Turffers OTOH, when confronted with a dickhead claiming to be uniquely inspired by God on High, can easily reply: "Oh, really? See this board & these two piles of stones? Where does God tell you to play in order to win the game?" And thereby rot the pompous preacher's axe with minimal damage to the surrounding forest and its innocent inhabitants.
Will Obomber, Kissinger & their minions ever come to find out that a true court of justice will coldly refuse their "undo" requests for murder charges arising from their wanton bombing of the humble villages of Afghanistan***?
"Vindication" = "justification against denial or censure". ...........................................
* KGS lists a player-name "Brent", unranked, with 1 9 X 9 game. This "Brent Marinello" may be a completely different person from the "Brent" of this thread, as the former's divulgation of his full name indeed suggests.

The with holding information was the nature of the "multiple" undo requests. I now know that he asked multiple times for the same move he wished to have undone.
I would typically characterize that as asking for a single undo. What ensued was an argument over that one undo.
However you started out saying that he "repeatedly requests undo"
I personally just interpret that as a wee little bit of spin.

Perhaps. But my impression is that he resigned the game and you then come here to try to -------- fill in blank ---------------him. (I use fill in the blank, because I am not quite sure what you exactly are trying to do, but in some way you are trying to punish him, it seems)

And your even more perverse action of posting this here gives him some degree of credibility.

Which you could not permit?

would this be the same degree of cold blood that Israel goes into Palestine. Is this how I am to interpret things like "cold blood" from you?

Now it has returned to make five arguments, all of them utterly without merit, while failing to answer two simple, direct, pertinent questions. Does this shamefaced behavior call to mind the image of a cat on a tin roof furiously trying to hide its shit by scratching?
In its last remark NB fleetingly suggests that on big issues it sides with justice rather than with the despotism of war criminals like Kissinger, Obama, Clinton, McChrystal & Kabal. Since 1994, as even Google's spotty record shows, I have posted thousands of articles on this great issue of our age. To judge by the frenzied reaction thereby provoked among guilty parties, perhaps they have even had some effect. Again, will NB surprise us by frankly stating its position like an honest man, or woman, or whatever it may be?
The decadent clique desperately hanging on to the reigns of power over JAPE* brazenly threatens our whole race with annihilation and any particular individual with menaces ranging from slander campaigns to financial destruction to kidnapping, torture & assassination. Meanwhile the utterly corrupt Demublicans keep shoveling $ trillions to billionaire banksters***
Those who dare to stand up and address the solution of these most grave problems thereby qualify ourselves, if I may say so, as the emerging leaders of the impending third age of our species, after the childhood of the tribe and the parlous adolescence of civilization.
Vo Nguyen Giap, Hugo Chavez, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Hu Jintao, Cynthia McKinney, Paul Craig Roberts, Michael Collins Piper, Evo Morales and other brave spirits from the 'hood will be be joining sympathetic souls for a pot-luck later this Fall.

I do not know why whether I play the game has anything to do with this . I do play, I am not very good, but that does not matter. I am not a 3d , but one does not have moral authority based on their go playing rank. LOL!
You are the one who brought this silly thing to this group. LOL!

Yes you have. And you completely trivialize everything you say by calling my post "cold blooded".
Let's see, Killing 23 Palestinians is Horrific, posting a disagreement about hals post is "cold blooded" . Dude - you just completely trivialized all your arguments about justice by calling a silly comment to your thread "cold blooded" Aren't those the kind of words that should be reserved for the Jews? LOL!

OK - my position is that your thread is silly and petty. I will not seek you out to play a game with me on KGS for fear that I will be the subject of a thread on rec.games.go. (I'd hate to think about what you might post about me if I beat you)
That is my position - and I am sticking with it. LOL!

You dare to stand up to these injustices, plus the injustices of being asked for an unreasonable undo on KGS. LOL!

The teacher just flunked me out of his class. Then I went out in the real world , got a job, earned money and realized how full of crap most of my teachers were.
Taking inspiration from entomologists who learn their science in part by dissecting bugs, let us turn to the case of Usenet poster Nameless Brent or "NB", who does at least exhibit the trait of persistence, from whatever motive.
Under repeated questioning, NB claims to play the game but refuses to reveal its rank, except for confessing that "it's not very good" and then immediately asserting "but that does not matter". In its first post, however, NB had written: "I will probably avoid playing with you". NB apparently fails to realize that in turff (or _baduk_ or the game of surrounding) rank does indeed matter, just as money matters when one is doing business. NB "will probably avoid playing" _wei chi_ with me and also "will probably avoid playing" tennis with Roger Federer. Although NB talks like a fool, this may be but a knave's disguise, which's a very ancient trick.
Parsing NB's cackle, we come to: "Let's see, Killing 23 Palestinians is Horrific, posting a disagreement about hals post is "cold blooded" . Dude - you just completely trivialized all your arguments about justice by calling a silly comment to your thread "cold blooded" Aren't those the kind of words that should be reserved for the Jews? LOL!"
Does the Gentle Reader get the feeling the NB is really laughing at the Jews' murder of the Rabbo girls and the 300 other children similarly slaughtered during the Gaza Massacre? If so, then NB is braying because we honorable people of Earth have yet to arrest it & its bosses. So, yes, we decent folk do have a lot of unfinished business and until we complete it then NB, Tom Friedman & that whole pack of lying, thieving kiddie-killers will keep on yuckingitup, many of them on the air, others here on the Usenet.
NB is elucidating for us that my description of it as "cold blooded" is even truer than first appeared. Turff players get passionate about games in which we are involved. It is common lore than observing rather than playing any given game increases one's strength by about 2 stones, precisely because the on-looker is cooler about the contest. So while my opponent "jiva", a genuine player, was reacting under pressure of the _agony_ of competition --BTW the origin of that Greek word-- NB came along afterwards in comparatively "cold blood" in a minor sense. But as it scrabbles onward, NB reveals both its "hidden beef" with me, as they say in the slammer and the far more sinister meaning of the chill sanguinary phrase.
NB is playing the game of _hasbara_ or "lies for the _goyim_" on behalf of the steam roller that crushed Rachel Corrie and millions of other innocents. From the very beginning, NB's feeble attempt to criticize my post was a mere pretext of a hissing clique.
NB writes "Then I went out in the real world , got a job, earned money" --as a hired shelf-talker for AIPAC?
Awkwardly trying for the common touch, NB writes: "Cut the verbiage, I am not a highly intelligent guy from an ivy league school." Let me give this wraith some cold consolation: It's in the same boat with old Henry Kissinger, who at least is from an 'Ivy League school'. Maybe NB can take a leaf from Hank's book?
NB six times repeats its "LOL". What's this obsession with mock merriment? Whistling "_Hatikvah_" as it shambles past the graveyard to its doom?

I have succeeded in my mission here Hal. You now realize that jiva was reacting under the pressure of the competition. Too bad you had to take this unfortunate experience and create a silly post to rec.games.go to try to somehow punish this person.
At last Nameless "Brent" and I agree: Given that, as it has tacitly admitted, it's motive was to collect payment from its AIPAC Net propaganda master for yakking it up against an honest man, then NB has in its words "succeeded in my mission", provided only that its check does clear.
In the difficult arena of the Usenet, NB babbles for its blood shekels, just as the Talking Heads of Fox do in their MegaBubbles, presumably at a far higher rate.
Lerts can add this item to their files of psywar antics by Kissinger's Kosher Kabal of Kiddie Killers.

NB's so stuck on the notion of "punishment" 'cause that was its assigned task against me as a well known Net writer for justice. Even though it failed glaringly in that respect, there's still the cash in its pocket, eh what? Shades of Rush Limbaugh crossed with Uriah Heep....

Maybe I shouldn't stick my neck into this but your 3d rank is probably more comparable with that of a 'good' local tennis-club player than it is with that of Roger Federer.
The now disappeared "NB" entered this thread 4 times with the objective of challenging, in its own words, my "moral authority". NB one of a swarm of hired Jewish propagandists on the Usenet who are assigned to damage control against the reaction of normal people alias "gentiles" to the Net-news exposures of King Kissingerz' Kosher Kabal of Kiddie Killers aka K6. From the Gaza Massacre to Goldman Sachs MegaLooting and all that sort of thing, you know.
Since 1994 I have published 1000's of articles focussed mainly on huge atrocities by DICTATA*, such as the deliberate destruction of the occupied nations of Iraq and Afghanistan. Hence K6 is programmed to heckle me at every opportunity. Like flies attacking a swatter, actually.
One also notices a systematic attempt to degrade the Usenet by spamming, in order to discourage the development of sincere conversations. One fine day perhaps the genuine voices of authority on the Net will jine up to create our own newsgroup troika of an open, a moderated and a registered variation of the same title, e.g. alt.world.justice ==> a.w.j.mod,a.w.j.reg . The last of the three would require only slightly more management. My nominees for such an effort, as often praised before, include: Paul Craig Roberts, Michael Collins Piper, Cynthia McKinney, Francis Boyle, Franklin Lamb, Alison Weir, Jennifer Harbury, David Ray Griffin, David Irving, Ernesto Cienfuegos, Ross Gandy, James Petras and Israel Shamir.

"Mike"s quite right about that point of comparison, of course. NB's chances of playing either one of us are about the same, however, similar to his chances of being able to jump up & touch either the moon or the sun with its fingers, even though the former's so much closer.

From what I can see, a 3dan AGA rank probably would lose to a top professional level player with a 9 stone handicap about 80% of the time.

Which is why I used the little "'" marks around the word. As well as an unfortunate view of the world in general, the 3D player in question appears to have a somewhat overrated image of his/her position/status in the go world.
