Shimano Hub Parts
Where can I buy parts to repair old Shimano 3 Speed Hubs? Right now I need Lubricator P/N 321 0400 for a "F" hub and P/N 333 101 for a "FA" hub. The lubricators i have on spare hubs are not in very good shape, so stealing on of these is not the best repair. I can not find out the thread size or I would just locktite a set screw... more »

Lesson in the importance of fit.
My son and I go to the gym together, which is fun though at 52 it's hard keeping up with a 16 year old and I flirt with injury to maintain my dominance. BUT, we often watch the spin classes while recovering from the heavy weights and boy have we become experts on bike fit. Just haven't summoned up the nerve to suggest that someone might bounce or rock a... more »

Speed of change of cycle technology = problem
Looking at a recent thread abotu cone nuts and a few others. Plus my own experience trying to get a new BB for a 12 yo bike with plenty of life left in it. I just worry that the old days when I coudl go down the bike shop and buy parts to keep a bike running are long gone. I feel sorry for any shop trying to keep enough different bits in stock... more »

Cone Nuts- What If I need a new ones and
I have a Giant Yukon mountain bike from 1998 or so. I have no idea who makes the wheels. Anyhow the front wheel was making a weird sound when I made turns. Sure enough I found that the wheel had play around the axle. Upon taking everything apart I found one side had clean grease and the other set of bearings had dark grease with corrosion evident.... more »

Thousands laugh as newbie replaces inner tube....
There has to be a secret for something so simple. What would normally take you folks less than 10 minutes took me more than 45. Apparently I have a slow leak in my front innertube. I was able to pull it out ok using the 'regular' methods of tube removal. Just to check for the leak location, I filled the tube with air but couldn't find nor hear a leak anywhere.... more »

my review of the Mercier Orion
I started a thread asking about this bike and did get some feedback thanks. Well I put thing thing together and thought I would post my initial reaction. First of all it came fast 4 days and nothing missing although it had pedals that require cleats and I thought they were standard with toeclips. I sent a e mail requesting this get taken care... more »

FD and chainstay angle: 63-66 vs 66-69
Hello, I'm building a touring bike with an MTB crank (22-32-44). I naively thought that an MTB FD would be better than a road one due to cage shape. But most MTB FDs are designed for a 66-69 degree chainstay angle, while my bike should need a 63-66. What effect does a wrong chainstay angle have? Which one would be better for my bike: a road FD (wrong teeth) or an... more »

Hi, we're moving to a new house about 1,000 miles away, and I'll be towing a little utility trailer behind my wife's sedan. I want to put a roof rack atop the trailer to carry two or three bicycles. I'd like some suggestions. The trailer is a little fiberglass number with a thin fiberglass top. A... more »

Anyone replace Phil BB bearings themselves?
Hi, I need to change out the bearings in a Phil BB. In the past, I have mailed them in to Phil and have also tried having a local bearing shop change them out. I thought I wanted to look into what it would take to do them myself and see if I could save some money. The bearings look like a pretty simple... more »
