I find it very counter-productive that I have to wait hours (or days?)
before my questions may even be modded-published to the list. And
then, I shall wait hours (or days?) before any answer reaches me. In
fact, it's worse than even being counter-productive; it's also very
counter-intuitive and de-motivating.
That said, I ask that you fix this. I think the best approach with
Google Groups is to approve people like me who you know are not spam
posters. Your spam problem is then solved, and that leaves the problem
open about people who want to discuss stuff you don't want to be
discussed on Qilang. Well, if you could, under the last "regime",
delete spam posts, you could just as much delete those new posts that
raise a subject you don't want to be discussed.
You really don't have to go that far towards moderation. Please strive
for equilibrium - balance; not for this extreme that makes me suffer
right now.

having written my epistle, so in this case your post took a bit more
time.** I'm generally a lot faster.
However I will guarantee that your post will appear within 24 hours
and probably 3-4 hours. But as Rich Hickey says on his Clojure site,
there is a delay for the posts to be moderated.

Sorry Dan; I didn't read your message closely enough and posted it as
approved because it was submitted to qilang. I should have noticed
your opening sentence but was reading in a hurry i.e. saw it's not
spam, content seemed ok, so approve. Probably you needed to send this
as a private email.
Anyway no harm done; because there is no harm in airing your views and
its a decent point. If modding becomes too slow then I'll appoint
more managers. Generally I'll appoint people who have been personally
known to me for many years; I think you can see why.
As for Rich; I'll think about it. If qilang ever becomes as big as
the Clojure group, then we might need to follow his example.
