That really depends on the project and the hardware..
> I know panini and
They definately do benefit from the recent improvements in virtual
memory handling.
Also the HDR/fusion algorithms are already optimized for speed in many
ways. But they're complex algorithms requiring a fair bit of processing.

Justin sent me a set of images which stitched very well, but through
some oversight only cover about 80% of the 360x180 view. There is
evidence of a small amount of parallax, which should be possible to
eliminate by a small adjustment of the camera position:
[link]
John

Hi Michael, sorry mate I assumed that it would be taken for granted
that my testing wouldnt include the outer edges of the lens.Testing
was done to the limit of where I could see lens distortion starting to
come in. What Im getting at is that there was no parallax errors for a
majority of the lens, usable lens :)

this can kind of be done already, while not an automated solution it
does work and is completely doable today.

In the Advanced section of Create Panorama tab you can choose which
source images to include in the stitch. If you process a sub selection
you can get a partial or imtermediate stitch section which can be

Rectilinear, cylindrical or equirectangular in fact..

This should make no difference at all for PTGui. If there's any
difference in speed this would be due to hardware or driver issues. I
suspect your particular RAID system is not working like it should in Win 7.

A simple gigapixel panorama should be doable in one to a few hours at

Erik, thanks for those great suggestions.

It's true that I've got a lot of overlap. Sometimes, in previous
attempts, I thought I had enough overlap, then the program couldn't
find enough control points. It could also be that the orientation of
the image wasn't quite the same as the others.
