You can accomplish this using the barcodewidth function I contributed a while back.

See here.

The way I've been achieving this lately is by rotating the barcode 180
degrees and setting x,y coords as needed... Basically printing it
'upside-down'. Barcode scanners don't seem to complain and our customer
base is happy.
-----Original Message-----
[mailto:postscriptbarcode@goog legroups.com] On Behalf Of RedGrittyBrick

 Hi,
Thanks to some excellent work by Chapman Flack, in the form of
net.anastigmatix.Packager [1], the named resource delivery format for
BWIPP [2] is now more compact and contains DSC compliant comments,
which means that it should be more digestible for document management
software.
I've refreshed this example [3].

 Hi Nick,
I've purposefully not made it trivial for others to replicate the
online generator functionality since its high popularity provides a
(small) source of funding for the BWIPP project.
I will however provide the source to individuals who want to use it
for "internal-only" use. Let me know if this is the case.

 Hi,
A non-zero number system is indeed undefined for UPC-E.
From a technical standpoint I think that your solution is fine,
however I have found in the past that designing the input in just such
a way results in confusion for the (non-technical) users of the
project.
I will however add a defensive check to ensure that the encoder fails

 Terry,
thanks for your answer.
I played a bit around with the latest barcode and the problem
seems to be the length of the code, which must be _always_
202 Byte.

The first two examples worked well, the last one not. Everything,
which couldn't
be ASCII is coded as ^xyz, The underscores should be spaces.

Its purpose is to discourage
people from designing into the whitespace border immediately to the
left and right or the bars which would make scanning more error-prone.
Its use is entirely optional, but is especially encouraged if you

 Hi,
I have now created a simple autoencoder for MaxiCode which makes
invoking MaxiCode as trivial as:
150 150 moveto (This is MaxiCode) () maxicode
The above invocation will created either a mode 4 or mode 5 symbol
depending upon the encoded length of the given data. Mode 5 will be
chosen when the encoded data is sufficiently small to use the more

 <...snip...>
Hi.
I've just added byte-mode encoding to Data Matrix and made this the
default encoding method since it is generally more efficient than
ASCII-mode encoding. The remaining EDIFACT, C40, TEXT and X12 modes
will be added in about a week's time thanks mainly to a generous code
contribution by Jörg Walter - thanks Jörg!

 Hi,
Just a quick update to mention that this "named resource" delivery
format is now a first class citizen in BWIPP, i.e. I have updated my
release scripts to build the Resource directory [1], tarball it [2]
and have added some basic usage instructions for GhostScript and
Distiller in the form of a README file [3].

 Rogelio,
Nope, a Data Matrix symbol can be made as small as 10x10.
That isn't to say that the data that you wish to encode can fit into
such a small symbol but the generator supports all valid sizes of Data
Matrix symbols.
What data are you having difficulty encoding?
All the best,
Terry

hello, I notice the comments show the minimum size for the data matrix
to be 32.

I need the kind of 2D datamatrix that is just one square big (not 2
tall and 2 wide), and I only need it about 24 cols/rows . how do I get
a datamatrix like this from the generator? is it possible?
thanks.
