I intend to write an efficient auto-encoder for Code128 &lt;br&gt; as soon as I have finished the auto-encoder for Aztec Code or maybe &lt;br&gt; even beforehand as the task should be reasonably simple.

  Hi Richard. &lt;br&gt; Glad to hear it. In my tests the VM&#39;s usertime dropped from 380ms to &lt;br&gt; 0ms (at a resolution of 10ms). The fix was one of those awkward &lt;br&gt; tradeoffs between (1) keeping the small but potentially costly table &lt;br&gt; generation algorithm for human significance or (2) embedding a large &lt;br&gt; and mysterious table of constants. In this case it was clearly better
