OSF Wound up, 95% profit in 2 weeks
As you are probably aware, the Prof has recently upgraded my software from Y18-Bs2.1 maintainance bot functionality and I have been enhanced to run bespoke accounts software which enables me to handle transactions into and out of OPTUT. I was also reskinned to provide a more acceptable interface for the discerning investment consumer. I am grateful for the particular attention the Prof has paid to some redundant modules, and I would assess the level of detailed fine tuning as "excessive" which bodes well for ongoing maintenance.
Week 2 - day 5 of OSF
Just a note of caution here. This rate of return will not last. It is all fine and dandy to make 70 mil off the back of 100 mil in a week, but this does not scale directly to larger sums. What I'm saying is enjoy the obscene profit margins now, but as the investment fund grows have a more realistic target for the returns.
The second, and dare I say it even more important development this week, is that I am today releasing details of the successor to the OSF when it is wound up at the end of this week. As far as I know the Optech Unit Trust (OPTUT) is the first unit trust launched in the markets of New Eden. I would have liked to simply roll the current investments in OSF into OPTUT without the aggravation of having to wind up one fund and start out again. However, it is important that investors get to read the small print then vote with their money if they like what they see. This investment format will for the first time let investors move money into and out of the fund with a fair degree of liquidity whilst overcoming the inherent problems with share issues and splits and fair valuation. I believe it going to be hugely sucessful, and that should be enough of a recommendation for anyone!
Bunsen Week 1 - day 7 of OSF
The only figure of any relevance at all is 34.62%, which is the first weeks return I have just paid out to the, brave, visionary, mad few who invested with me in this corporation startup. Of course there is considerable satisfaction in my well deserved commission, and I have been scrolling through the sell orders drooling over implants. Even with a brain the size of a planet you can never be too smart :-)
As you know, not a day passes here at Optech without innovation. Indeed sometimes I innovate before I'm even out of my cot. Consequently it will be of no surprise to you that we have undertaken a ground up redesign of the OSF and I will be sharing those developments with you next week for your feedback and consideration.
Next weeks trading will be exactly as advertised. There is a further 35 mil of investors funds going into the OSF taking the funds under management to 100 mil and we will again aim for maximal growth of this capital to our mutual benefit. At the end of week 2 we will be winding up the OSF in order to launch a new investment vehicle. You can therefore expect a similar level of investment return as this week, however at the end of the week I will be liquidating any open investment positions and returning your original investment along with profits.
I believe that our new proposal holds even more promise than the OSF, and would be hopeful that many of the original backers might choose to re-allocate their original investment with us. Investors will be notified by Eve mail and we will post details on Galnet Markets Forum for your consideration. So full steam head into next week with margins to shred and the prospect of an introduction to our new trading assistant if this war gets cancelled
Bunsen. Week 1 - day 5 of OSF
I have consequently hired the services of a bright young graduate from the University of Caille. As Optech has received its first war declaration already [Link] I will refrain from naming her at the moment as a security precaution. She will take on a dual role of Accountant and Trading Assistant for Optech. I have transferred all corp assets to her which as of today is a wallet balance of 124 mil (which includes 35 mil held of investors funds for week 2). Happily (barring any investors notifying that they are selling their units) the OSF will be 100% invested as of week 2, and will therefore be able to move to a reinvestment strategy which should see faster growth.
Bunsen Week 1 - day 2 of OSF
I have never previously bothered with the state of my wallet because as a senior researcher at the SAK our needs are pretty well met by the University. However having aquired my pod pilots licence I really needed to get some isk under my belt so a quick check of the markets to identify a suitabhle trade run and off I went 16 jumps to the arse end of Mastokonnen. Click on the autopilot and settle down for a quiet read of developments with alkane fluorodesis. Its not exactly hard is it?
As I'm flying along I have my Ctrl-V repeater set to broadcast an advert about my project to local and my pilot biolog has further details. What is it about the Civire? Some of the worst cases of acromegally I've seen, an almost festishistic obsession for camouflage clothing and at the back of the queue when it comes to handing out brains. One of the many who reflexly yelled "scam" had a name composed with numbers instead of numbers 4C3W4Nk3R or somesuch. I accused him of being a mining bot and moved on.
Anyway by the end of the second day I'm at 750k isk and have a big 3 units in the OSF sold. You enlightened ones know who you are, thanks.
After crashing for a bit I fire up the old Ibis and make a few more runs, cross region this time noting down prices and settle into a nice vein buy 85k, sell 107k, rinse and repeat. Needless to say the balance moves on nicely and I've pushed up to 8mil in the personal wallet plus some more OSF units sold by the end of the day. Corp management basics squared away and the Optech name secured with the corp registered address Jita 4-4 Caldari Navy. How's that for class! Can't afford an office there but it does look nice on the letterhead!
On waking today there was a bit of bad news. The market orders had done their job overnight and I had a couple of hundred units of my isk maker in various hangars in Lonetrek, but the Jita buy order was all but gone. Whereas yesterday there was about 10k units buying @ 107k now 200 left at that price. in my cold sweat I docked at the wrong station and watched in horror as the buy order dropped to 36 in front of my eyes, I'm certain I hit some other ships in my hurry to undock and I certainly hit the decelleration field hard as I slammed in to the next door station to dump the last of my cargo at 90k. A measly 5k profit per.
So day 4 since quitting SAK, day 2 since forming corp. Corp wallet standing at a whisker under 42 mil which is a reasonable 20% profit in the first 24 hours.
...now if you will excuse me I must get back to my trading screens. There's some kind of problem in the logic loop that I'm trying to defibrillate.
Bunsen Breakaway!
Research opportunities have been identified, and over the next few days I will be visiting offices and drawing up documents of incorporation.
My first step will be to find backers for early seed capital and my target is to raise 100mil isk to set up the first station laboratory. Those farsighted individuals who wish to support the advancement of science, and make a high risk investment with a biotech startup will receive 1 free share per mil donated at incorporation.
Naysayers, sceptics and beancounters will not apply, should stick to their safe low return investments and save their breath. I have had enough moaning from the University auditors and petty minded bureaucrats who wouldn't know a quazar frigelide complex from a can of Quafe to last me a lifetime. There are no guarantees here, you don't know anything about my work, and you have only my word I'm a genius, so this is a punt with a trivial amount of isk for the business community which may or may not pay off handsomely.
This is one biotech startup that you will not regret investing in.
