Hello,

We're working on very large variables (300 000 bytes) and it seems too
heavy for QM to work on this large variable and so time is exponential
when adding data to this big variable.

Is there any optimization on QM part we can do to work faster with
big items ?

Hopefully just missing something obvious. Simply want QM to be able to
'see' (read/write) a file on a windows shared mapped drive. I have
tried all sorts of permutations of what I thought the following should
be to no avail ...

VOC entry ...

0001 F
0002 shared name (ie ... z:\ or \\computer\sharedname , etc...

This is a contribution to a discussion that has come and gone a few times in this group – Unicode support.
I have been working with Unicode UTF-8, and found some things that might be useful for those who want to use it. This applies to Windows, which is probably the most difficult environment, but the one that I am currently forced to work with.

I have SORTMEM set to 32768 and SORTMRG to 4 on our production box as
well as the development box.

The production box has 8 gigs of ram and 160 gigs of ssd for disk. It
is quite fast.

The dev box is considerably slower and uses disk drives. I am not
quite sure of the exact specs on the dev box.

A friend of mine who has great technical ability, but limited sales and management skills, is developing some software that IMHO has great potential for making money. To change the potential to reality would require setting up a business model, developing a marketing plan, getting capital, and in general doing the tasks needed to build a start-up company. I would do it myself, but I am comfortably retired and intend to remain so. However, I can facilitate discussions and provide some advice.

 1) This first proposal isn't major, just a suggestion for
documentation that may increase contributions from a specific
subset of the user/developer base.
While low-level underpinnings of QM are written in C, I believe
many of the higher functions that people use every day are
written in BASIC (GPL.BP?).

I am trying to do some work on QM on a PDA and cannot remember how to access
the storage card.

Create.account test "storage card\test"

I've tried various combinations, but just cannot get the file location to
work. I have done this before but just can't figure out what I'm doing
wrong.

Thanks,

 Hello,

Is there a way to have index case insensitive ? We are migrating a
customer from D3 to Qm and the case sensitivity of indexes in QM is
really annoying for our customer. Is there any option for that ?

Thanks,
Cedric

QM 2.9-4 is now on the web site. This is a relatively minor release
mainly comprising items requested by users to ease migration from
other platforms.

Martin Phillips, Ladybridge Systems

Windows version - Icon to start and stop qm

I am interested in creating an icon to start and stop qm on a windows
server 2003 system (or any windows system).

I have a shortcut to services and scroll through the list till I get
to qm. I can then start and stop it there (it automatically starts
when windows boots.

Any suggestions?
