Annual AAG Meeting, Las Vegas, 22-27 March 2009

Hi Everyone,

This is an advanced call for expression of interest in the 4th Special
Session on "Emerging Computational Techniques and Technologies in
GeoComputation" at the Annual AAG Conference.

2009 AAG Conference website:
http://www.aag.org/annualmeetings/2009/index.htm

The line-up for the last three year's session can be found at:
http://www.ucl.ac.uk/~ucessan/
http://www.ucl.ac.uk/~ucessan/news/PastNews.html

The official call for papers is yet to be announced but I have decided
to start early this year to avoid last minute dash to the deadlines.

Here's a brief description for the preferred focus on next year's
session:

-------------------------------------------------
NeoGeography Tools - What next?

We are all excited by the wave of NeoGeography and Web 2.0
technologies from the likes of online mapping to social networking
websites. These technologies informed us about navigation routes,
natural disasters, funny multimedia, unseen news footage, and brought
old friends together. Although, of course not everyone is entirely
happy with the last one.

Like any other technologies, these technologies will only continue to
attract research and investment by constant innovation and
diversification of application areas.

The purpose of the session is to bring together ideas and researchers,
present existing wonderful technologies and speculate about their
future directions. The topics could range from protocols,
visualisations, applications, (technological) critique, deployment
platforms, websites, and perhaps even an unusual one.

Of course, presentations on other Emerging Computational Techniques
and Technologies are very welcome too.

Please note that the main purpose of the session is to appreciate the
imagination and purpose behind an idea and not to assess the accuracy
and completeness. Audience has often taken part in shaping the idea
and even conducted frank discussions on suitability; therefore the
work receives an on the spot assessment.

Therefore, speculative research and work in progress are also highly
encouraged.
-----------------------------------------------

Please email me if you would be interested.

I hope you decide to present your idea in the session and come to
enjoy the tranformation of Las Vegas from *you know what* to a much
more friendlier place.

Have a good summer (or winter if you are in the southern hemisphere)
vacation!

Thanks,
